See, the problem didn't start at 14.. The problem started way back about 2 when the parent didn't establish who ran the show. |

You bet I'd complain. My daughter goes to school to LEARN, not to be subjected to frightening videos such as the one you demonstrated. When did it become the responsibility of the schools to raise children? Suppose maybe we could send in someone special to take them to the dentist too or offer gun safety in the classroom> No thanks, my kid's in school to learn stuff like MATH.
No wonder good teachers burn out. |

I read that and I have never believed poor parenting goes hand-in-hand with poverty. I didn't mean for those to be tied in any way except that they are both outside situations that schools can not be expected to correct. |

If an enlightened school wants to teach Eddie Eagle they can do it after school. My kid's trying to learn the things she'll need to succeed in college. Last I knew, gun safety wasn't one of them. |

I know I'm opening a HUGE can of worms here...
But with that logic... that kids are sent to school to learn math and reading, and not gun control...
why should schools teach sex education?
I'm not saying that I believe they should or shouldn't, but I'm curious on the difference. |

good question tegan..my personal view is that there are too many
parents who actually know nothing about the ramifications of sex
or for religious reasons may not wish to address the subject. sex
is part of the human biology therefore part of the class.
honestly, i've already had that talk with my boy because it's my
job as a good dad....
damn!!! deena beat me to the punch!!  |
