The parents thought those papers were great. They look at the grade, not the paper. There's another neighbor with the opposite problem. She desperately wants her 14 year old son to go to school, while he'd rather hang out with his thug buddies. He gets picked up by the police, and she gets called to pick him up. I've taken her to pick him up, since she has no car, & he's laughing like it's all a joke. You can drop him off at the door to the school, and he'll go in the front & right our the back. He mouths off to her & dares her to slap him, so he can claim child abuse. It's a sad situation, and nobody seems to be able to help her.
How is this the fault of the school district? How do you think a school can atone for poverty and poor parenting? Where is this mother's SPINE? I'll be damned if any 14 year old kid would defy me and laugh at the consequences. He'd find his butt in court as an incorrigible so fast his little head would spin.
See, the problem didn't start at 14.. The problem started way back about 2 when the parent didn't establish who ran the show. |

Deena go back and read my post about what we witnessed first hand several years back. No poverty but plenty of poor parenting. |

yes i do double OH....i always wondered why it didn't continue.....
this would be perfect for some of these hardasses!!!!
i think it would be too easy for the kids to laugh in a gym setting.
it should be close and personal. let them smell the breath and body
odor of the prisoners while they yell at the little tough guys!!!
bring a couple real big, mean and nasty prisoners in with hand cuffs
and leg irons. unshaven, hair matted and smelly, the prisoners would
love the chance to instill a little acting to their performance. the kids
will have to be totally intimidated!!!!!!! i don't know how the kids would
be chosen because i'm sure if shown to all the kids, some of the nicer
ones would have nightmares thus getting their parents in a mood to
complain and sue, but if they were instructed to go by a judge, well
thats another thing. if their bad enough to be sent to the "play" their
parents will have nothing to say but "shut up and pay attention"!!
what say you 00SL2?
You bet I'd complain. My daughter goes to school to LEARN, not to be subjected to frightening videos such as the one you demonstrated. When did it become the responsibility of the schools to raise children? Suppose maybe we could send in someone special to take them to the dentist too or offer gun safety in the classroom> No thanks, my kid's in school to learn stuff like MATH.
No wonder good teachers burn out. |

I read that and I have never believed poor parenting goes hand-in-hand with poverty. I didn't mean for those to be tied in any way except that they are both outside situations that schools can not be expected to correct. |

What would be wrong with that? NRA Eddie Eagle program. Taught in many "enlightened" schools across the nation.

If an enlightened school wants to teach Eddie Eagle they can do it after school. My kid's trying to learn the things she'll need to succeed in college. Last I knew, gun safety wasn't one of them. |

With some of the goings on at campuses around the country it very well could be. |

I know I'm opening a HUGE can of worms here...
But with that logic... that kids are sent to school to learn math and reading, and not gun control...
why should schools teach sex education?
I'm not saying that I believe they should or shouldn't, but I'm curious on the difference. |

Reproductive education is biology. |

good question tegan..my personal view is that there are too many
parents who actually know nothing about the ramifications of sex
or for religious reasons may not wish to address the subject. sex
is part of the human biology therefore part of the class.
honestly, i've already had that talk with my boy because it's my
job as a good dad....
damn!!! deena beat me to the punch!! |
