DAVISON, MI – Davison Farmers Market LLC, has announced site plans are approved and construction will begin in September on the new Davison Farmers Market.

The idea for the market became public in early July 2013, when Coykendall Produce and Knob Hill Meats – two of the largest vendors at the current Flint Farmers’ Market – announced that they would not make the move to the new downtown Flint Farmers’ Market in 2014.

The scheduled grand opening date of the new Davison market is May 1, 2014.

The Davison Farmers Market – which will be part-owned and run by Mark Wood, the owner of D&W Windows in Davison – will be located on Court Street just east of Irish, next to D&W Windows and Sunrooms show room.

The market will provide interior space for 18 vendors and two fixed-base eateries. An open-air pavilion will also be constructed to house more than 25 vendors for the market. It will be open year-round three days a week, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

“We are extremely excited about the possibilities the Davison Farmers Market brings to our area and the surrounding communities. Easily accessible from I-69, the new facilities will provide a friendly family environment,” states part owner Dave Wood.

Wood said that many well established and recognize vendors who have been involved in other area farmer’s markets are already signing up to be part of the Davison Farmers Market, but he did not specify which vendors have signed up.
“It was important for us to fill the 40-foot by- 304-foot building and the 30-foot by- 222-foot open air pavilion with vendors that have been known throughout the community for their quality products and service,” Wood said.

“Our goal is to make it the most enjoyable experience people can have when they come to the market. It will be easy to get to, have plenty of convenient parking and more important provide a safe, clean environment not only for the people but also for our vendors. We’ve heard positive feedback from people in many communities, including Flint, Lapeer, Grand Blanc and all over the area about the Davison Farmers Market.”

The new Davison market will create up to twenty new jobs for the area and it is expected to provide direct competition for the new downtown Flint market, which is expected to open in the former Flint Journal printing facility in spring 2014.

Tom Sumner In the meantime, will evictions continue?

Melodee Mabbitt This vendor can't be evicted until this process is complete. I imagine that they won't evict others if they aren't getting away with it now, but then I've been surprised at their actions before so we'll see.

Russ Bedford The lawyers couldn't reach an agreement, so they asked for a trial. Jury selection on the 7th, trial on the 8th.

David White So who was Uptown's attorney? What a shame that they have to waste money on a trial.
