affirmative action is racism plain and simple.
Imagine being told you were less intelligent than someone just because you were left handed, or had brown eyes.
That's exactly the message affirmative action sends to minorities.
It also discriminates against whites by denying them of something they earned.
Opponents of this viewpoint would say that affirmative action is necessary because racism still exists in our society and that the races are not equal yet. My answer to that is that the color of someone's skin does not in any way limit their potential in life.
If it did, then we wouldn't have blacks seeing the level of success that Condoleeza Rice, J.T. Watts, and Clarence Page experience. Racism will always exist if one race is given preferential treatment over another.

I can think of a position higher than Condoleeza Rice's that has been occupied by white men exclusively. [/b]

Well unfortunelty you can only name a handful. Where as there are hundreds of whites witht the same position. Racism is still alive and has just adapted to current times. I believe that people who for proposal two don't want the stigma of being recist. Let's see how you feel when you don't get the job because you are white, then tell me what you think.

Unintended consequences----COURT proceedings- state funding for domestic violence shelters, cervical cancer---Law suits.

Watch and see.
YES, affirmative action was overboard and discriminating on employment against laws already on the books. Someone needed to report that rather than start this all encompassing constitutional admendment.

Forget Girls in science programs, more men in teacher programs- white or black. Heaven knows urban children have enough male quality role models.

I voted NO on ALL statewide proposals because I did my research on the fine print. Except #3 the non-issue....shoot them freakin doves!! sounds like quail tastes like quail. Worth a two dollar stamp to hunt in outlying areas.

If you vote ..it is a responsibility to learn, to study, to research what you are voting on. Be an Educated Voter@! read the fine print!

The ammendment bans preferences in State hiring, contracting and University admissions. How does this stop the programs you mantioned?

Mr. Starr,
You only read the first three. Did you not read all? Gender and public education. While I support some of these changes....they were already on the law books...those affecting gender and k-6 were not. They are now!

The cost of law suits to decide what falls under will be many.

As for the Doves, the two dollar stamp would have supplanted needed funds. Now DNR are asking for more funds. Doves at backyard city feeders would not have been affected as we cannot shoot in city boundaries.

In the wild they are a game bird much like quail.

Citizens that do not do the research on any vote no matter how trivial it may seem, do an injustice to those that faught for the right.

I applaud that you voted that in it self is a start.
