I'm getting blasted by religious groups even though I am strongly pro-life and anti-gay marriage. They are mad at me because I accepted this endorsement. http://www.republicanpridepac.org Perhaps this was a bad decision on my part but I do feel gay people should be treated like human beings and not subject to things like hate crimes and loss of hospital visitation rights. The emails have gone out to religious groups that are unfairly targeting me. The Flint Journal is not picking up the story to save me. On a bright note if I loose I will feel better knowing that I may have lost because I believe gay/lesbian people should be treated fairly although I do not support homosexuality and and opposed to gay marriage.

Looking ahead when accepting endorsements from groups like this I will need to make sure my viewpoints are clearly stated when the press release is issued.

Here is the text of the anti gay propoganda that went out. This seems like the type of person to celebrate when a gay person can't visit their dying partner in a hospital because they are not family or a spouse. I do not condone or support homosexuality but I feel this groups sometimes are too aggresively attacked even though they are human beings. They even tied me in with Triangle even though I was not endorsed by them.

CAMPAIGN FOR
MICHIGAN FAMILIES

3800 East Monroe * Midland, Michigan 48642

NEWS NEWS NEWS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Thurs., Aug. 3, 2006
CONTACT: Gary Glenn, Chairman 989-430-0652

Homosexual activists endorse Minore,
Ford in Flint area Senate primaries

FLINT, Mi. -- A statewide political action committee that promotes traditional family values such as one-man, one-woman marriage this week warned Genesee County voters that two Flint area state Senate candidates are being backed by homosexual activists in Detroit and Lansing intent on legalizing so-called homosexual "marriage" and adoption.

The Campaign for Michigan Families, based in Midland, delivered an e-mail to local supporters criticizing Democratic candidate Jack Minore and Republican candidate Adam Ford, both of Flint, who have both been endorsed in Tuesday's primary election by statewide PACs that back candidates who promise to support homosexual activists' political agenda in Lansing.

"Jack Minore and Adam Ford have aligned themselves with the radical agenda of homosexual activists in Detroit and Lansing, an agenda hostile to the traditional family and religious values of families in both parties in Genesee County," Campaign for Michigan Families chairman Gary Glenn said.

Minore is endorsed by Triangle Pride PAC, the campaign arm of the homosexual Triangle Foundation based in Detroit: http://www.pride-pac.org/e/genesee.html

Ford is endorsed by Republican Pride PAC, the campaign arm of the homosexual Log Cabin Republicans of Michigan: http://republicanpridepac.org/index-3.html

Both homosexual activist groups opposed the Marriage Protection Amendment approved by Michigan voters in 2004, a stand that puts the groups and their endorsed candidates "clearly at odds with Genesee County's Democratic and Republican family values voters," Glenn said.

The marriage amendment was approved by 58 percent of county voters in the November 2004 general election, including 52 percent support in the city of Flint, an election that included Democratic, Republican, and independent voters.

Glenn said both PACs are hostile to traditional family values such as one-man, one-woman marriage strongly supported by African-Americans and other significant voter blocs in the county.

He pointed to the national Log Cabin Republican PAC's refusal to endorse President George W. Bush's 2004 bid for reelection -- http://www.logcabin.org/logcabin/press_090804.html -- and its $1 million television advertising campaign instead that attacked Bush for his support of a Marriage Protection Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/columnists/chi-0408310256aug31,1,387389.column?coll=chi-navrailnews-nav

Including Ford, Log Cabin's Michigan arm, Republican Pride PAC, has endorsed only six Republicans in the entire state.

Glenn also said family values voters should not trust Minore or any candidate endorsed by Triangle Pride PAC and its affiliate, the Triangle Foundation, pointing to Triangle's controversial views on a wide range of issues.

"Why would Mr. Minore accept the endorsement of homosexual activists who promote homosexual and sadomasochist behavior, who routinely attack traditional families, Catholics and other Christians, the Boy Scouts, and who believe we should consider lowering the age of consent for sex between adults and children while opposing parental access to the state Sex Offender Registry?" Glenn asked.

He cited the following controversial statements and positions by Triangle staffers:

Attacking traditional families

"It's some kind of threat to the so-called 'traditional family,' whatever that is. As though that traditional family was a great and perfect thing. It was a family where women lived in fear if they divulged abuse by their husband, where a gay or lesbian child lived in fear and suicidal depression because it was a place in which coming out was totally impossible. It was a place that promoted lying, dishonesty, and where personal growth and fulfillment were unheard of." Jeff Montgomery, Executive Director, Triangle
Foundation news conference, June 24, 1999 http://polyzine.com/promisekeepers.html

Attacking conservative Christians

"The Christian right is working hard to prevent the vaccine from being approved by the FDA because it might encourage more premarital sex. Once again, it is more important that women suffer and die than have sex before marriage. This is nothing short of murderous and scandalous behavior." Sean Kosofsky, Director of Policy, Triangle Foundation, and Director, Triangle Pride PAC
http://www.pridesource.com/article.shtml?article=16698

"The Christian Right is dangerous for all Americans, including themselves. They like to attack gay families and say we are unfit parents and that we are wrecking heterosexual marriages and spreading disease, when in actuality they are to blame for so much grief, unnecessary illness and psychological torment. ...The wing-nuts need to answer for what they are doing to our country. We have laws against people harming other people. Too bad you can't prosecute a movement for poisoning the populace." Sean Kosofsky, Triangle Pride PAC http://www.pridesource.com/article.shtml?article=16698

Attacking Catholics

"Cardinal Maida (of the Archdiocese of Detroit)...is the single largest funder and advocate of anti-gay campaigns in Michigan history. While presiding over a million Catholics in Michigan, he has gone from silent and unapproachable to recklessly wicked and unapproachable. ...It sounds more like arrogance, bigotry and hypocrisy. That is Maida's Touch." Sean Kosofsky, Triangle Pride PAC http://www.pridesource.com/article.shtml?article=13021

"Gary Glenn, Marlene Elwell, Jerry Falwell, and Pope John Paul II hurt people. Stop hurting us. Or you force us to fight. Be prepared for your loss." Sean Kosofsky, Triangle Pride PAC http://www.fairmichiganmajority.org/2005_01_01_fairmichiganmajority_archive.html

"'(Cardinal Maida's)...wholesale and ignorant attack on gays is morally bankrupt, puts people at risk, and does not remedy the problem of the (Catholic) Church,' says Jeff Montgomery, Executive Director of Triangle Foundation. 'And let us not forget that Adam Cardinal Maida has a proven anti-gay agenda, having lobbied against (homosexuals') inclusion in state hate crimes legislation.'" Triangle Foundation news release http://gaytoday.badpuppy.com/garchive/events/042602ev.htm

"(Triangle Foundation Executive Director Jeff) Montgomery said the decision (not to allow a homosexual-themed play at a Lansing Catholic high school) 'continues to show how out of touch, mean-spirited and in denial the church is...It's so typical of the Catholic Church to have this kind of uninformed and unfortunate reaction.'" http://www.lansingcitypulse.com/011226/011226civicplayers.html

Urging "discussion" of adult-child sex

"(Triangle Foundation Executive Director Jeff) Montgomery refused to say he disagreed with efforts of radical homosexuals to lower the age of majority so that older men may legally have sex with teens. .'We need recognize that young people have a voice in this discussion and we should listen to young people when we are having it. ...We are living in a society that needs a great deal more discussion about sex in general,' he said. 'It's a good debate (intergenerational sex) to have and one I hope everyone can
participate in.'" Credo: News for Catholics and other Christians

Promoting sexual perversion

"(Executive Director) Jeff Montgomery from Triangle (Foundation) had agreed to be tied up if $500 was raised. And raised it was! Further, one member of the audience paid another $60 to see Jeff whipped. So Julio tied Jeff, and then another member put him on the cross for the flogging." Detroit Bondage Club web site, which published multiple photographs of Montgomery's half-naked flogging (photos available on request) http://www.detroitbondageclub.com/dbc_frameset.html /
http://web.archive.org/web/20030919185903/www.detroitbondageclub.com/dbc_frameset.html

Triangle Foundation "spent a significant amount of time having meetings with us and providing free legal advice," said Michigan Rope, a sadomasochist "bondage" club whose public torture demonstration was cancelled after AFA-Michigan contacted Southfield police. Michigan Rope reported the demonstration would feature "male and female nudity, intentional infliction of pain, cutting of the skin with bleeding" and "demonstrations" of (sex acts) and "erotic body harnesses that involve the genitals, both male and female." Triangle then sponsored a fundraising event to educate "kink bondage domination-sadomasochism enthusiasts" about how to combat AFA-Michigan and local law enforcement. Funds raised went to Triangle and the National Coalition of Sexual Freedom, an advocacy group for sadomasochism, "swinging," and group sex activities.

"Investigators said gay sexual activity was common at...the adult bookstores raided Wednesday. .'The result is that male semen gets all around these rooms,' endangering the public through possible exposure to infected bodily fluids, (police) said. ...But Jeff Montgomery, executive director of the Triangle Foundation, a gay rights group, defended the bookstores and said the raids were politically motivated harassment of gays. 'The people ensnared by these dragnets are people who may not be finding any other
meaningful way to make contact with men,' Montgomery said." Detroit Free Press at:

Attacking the Boy Scouts

"Triangle asked Mayor Dennis Archer to revoke $50,000 of city money recently granted to the Detroit area Boy Scouts because the Scout policy (banning homosexual Scoutmasters) is in violation of the City Charter and Human Rights Ordinance. Both documents forbid discrimination based on sexual orientation. Triangle asked Detroit to end all forms of support including use of public facilities and sponsorship of Scout troops by the police and fire departments." State News, Michigan State University
http://www.statenews.com/editions/071900/p1_scout.html

Promoting so-called homosexual "marriage" and adoption

"Triangle Foundation supports repeal of legislation prohibiting recognition of same-sex marriages, including two anti-gay marriage statutes in Michigan and the federal DOMA." Triangle Foundation web site
http://web.archive.org/web/20010228234048/http://www.tri.org/issues_family.html#marriage

"Triangle Foundation opposes all attempts to limit or prohibit access to adoption, foster care or custody of children based merely on a person's sexual orientation. Triangle encourages more gay and lesbian people who are interested in starting a family and who want children to pursue those options." Triangle Foundation web site
http://web.archive.org/web/20010228234048/http://www.tri.org/issues_family.html#parent

Defending abortion on demand

"Being forced to bear a child could be traumatizing for a woman and diminish the quality of life for the mother and the baby. Banning abortions will only push them underground ...these extremists don't care about life, they care about controlling women's bodies." Sean Kosofsky, Triangle Pride PAC http://www.pridesource.com/article.shtml?article=16698

Promoting condom distribution for school kids

"Triangle Foundation supports...education about STDs, sex, and drug use and how it relates to AIDS. This should occur at all ages and educational levels...it is important to allow public institutions like schools and health departments to make information and safer sex materials available to anyone seeking it. Unfortunately, only 2% of public schools currently offer condom distribution. This needs to be dramatically increased." Triangle Foundation web site

Opposing online access to state Sex Offender Registry

"Sex offender registries should be maintained solely for predatory and violent offenders and should be utilized only by law enforcement agencies for internal investigative use. Public access should only be available as it is for all government documents which involve Constitutional privacy rights, through the use of the Freedom of Information Act."
http://web.archive.org/web/20010228233535/http://www.tri.org/issues_criminal.html#sexoffender

Now you know how John Mccain felt in 2000 when he was smeared by his own party. This is just further evidence of how the Republican party has been hijacked by religious extremists even at the local level.

Don't worry Danno. I have already been taking steps to make sure this never happens again. Republicans do tend to carry the Christian vote which is why we go for the pro-life anti-gay marriage candidates. I am also anti-gay marriage but I believe gay people and even straight couples should have hospital visitation rights not just if the person is conscious. I also believe we should take an active role in preventing crimes such as hate crimes. Unfortunately this person wrongfully attacked me and failed to retract it so next time I will be contacting him after i take another endorsement like this to make sure he doesn't make a "mistake". If he does I will make sure I am in a better position to aggresively defend myself.
