Topic: Terri Lynn's xenophobe Land

I went to the Secretary of State today to get my son his license as he just passed his road test.- Equipped with his State ID, Learner’s permit, Birth Certificate and Social Security Card we waited in line only to be told we needed more proof- Bank statements, pay stubs, Credit Card statements and more.

Like Howard Beal- I have righteous indignant outrage. Henceforth, I refer to the Secretary of State as Terri Lynn’s Xenophobe land.

Seems to me....(really?) that that's way over the top.

A birth cert is needed for a Soc. Card and a Soc. Card is needed for a job...mmm. A couple of these things are needed for an 1-9 to complete paperwork for a job, but what's next....a DNA test to drive?

Illegal immigrants using false Social Security numbers
According to the NY Times, there are approximately 7 million illegal immigrants working in this country using someone else's Social Security number. This often creates big problems for the people whose number the stole.

It's also a felony to use someone else's Social Security number, so that means that nearly all working illegal immigrants are felons.

It should be pretty easy to figure out when a social security number is being used by two people. It seems to me that there's a willful desire on the part of our federal government to not enforce any of the laws.

Well Terry Lynn land is doing something about it. Very Happy

Hey twotap, I am going to hijack this thread.......

I am having van problems......67k on a 2001 Chevy Venture.

I get a noise now from the engine, upon pressing the accelerator, a whirring sound. Then when I let off of the gas, the whirring goes down with the revs, not the letting off of the gas pedal.

(edited to add: edited material to make it seem like I am a normal person......hahahaha.)

Am I hosed?

Andi it would be tough to figure out without a hands on visual inspection. If you indeed have or believe you have a fuel leak it would be advisable to have a technician take a quick look. Sorry thats all I can come up with. Crying or Very sad

Check the slack in the fan belt. It may need tightening, replacing, or some fan belt goop to keep it from slipping. Hope it's nothing more serious than that. But of course when a woman goes to a commercial establishment...they might tell you it needs a new engine because they think you don't know any better. Laughing

Yeah, I got the oil changed yesterday and asked the guys at Valvoline(sp) if they had any friends that could take a look at engines and not take advantage of a "girl". Smile They gave me a name of a place in Flint and I have heard that name from one of my other acquaintances also. Sounds good.

Ask me about my first car that I bought, and I tell you, Gloria Steinham, would have been proud. Smile
