New Clinton campaign manager Maggie Williams
WASHINGTON - Among Billaryland's inner circle, Maggie Williams is renowned as the ultimate Hillary loyalist, fierce and unwavering in her devotion for nearly 25 years.

As the First Lady's chief of staff, her office was in the West Wing, right next to Hillary's.

Her title gave away the extent of her clout: assistant to the President as well as Hillary's gatekeeper and chief enforcer.

Even detractors agree with her admirers that Williams would go to the mat for Hillary.

A Kansas City native, Williams, 53, was a central player in the Clinton damage-control machine ( AKA willys bimbo eruptions) Laughing during the White House years.

In 1995, a uniformed Secret Service officer swore under oath he saw her leave White House lawyer and Hillary confidant Vince Foster's office carrying documents after Foster committed suicide. Williams denied it.

She ran up more than $100,000 in legal bills defending Hillary in various investigations.

A former aide to Reps. Morris Udall of Arizona and Robert Torricelli (later senator) of New Jersey, Williams' ties to Hillary date to when they both were at the Children's Defense Fund in the 1980s.

After the Clintons left the White House, Williams was named president of Fenton Communications, a leading public relations and consulting firm.

When Bill and Hillary Clinton made remarks before the South Carolina primary that offended African-Americans, the campaign put her on the airwaves to try to quell the uproar.

"She's never run a political campaign, but she has run a staff and isn't afraid to crack heads," a Democratic booster said. Laughing

If I'm not mistaken, her most recent campaign manager was Terry McAuliffe, right? Dude, how many times can the Democrats let this freak ruin things for them? He made such an ass of himself in 2000, and you *knew*!, just like a spider, he was waiting and would get another chance to be at the locus of power.

He's a dufus, I don't know why they had him to begin with. Sounds like they're trading the pot for the kettle.

Isn't changing a campaign manager in the middle of things like trying to stop a pitcher's fast ball in mid-air? Doesn't matter where the damn ball lands, it's gonna go where it wants to go......along with our votes....<shrug>.

She needs someone behind the scenes running things while she's out on the campaign trail, helping to raise funds, too!

you know dblOH.....hillary makes a mistake with some blacks
when she appears to "patronize" them. several months ago when
she was the apparent guaranteed demo, i saw her on television
on a stage with several older black preachers. she was acting like
she was preaching all the while the preachers behind her were
sweatin' and yellin like they were being led to the promissed land!!

that pissed off a LOT of younger folks both black and white!
it was viewed as "pandering"...it appeared staged and phony.
by younger folks i mean 60 and younger!! Laughing Laughing

it was interesting in that it said she believes(some) blacks are still capable of being led by emotional ferver, and she's right. but whats important is
that the numbers of those blacks are shrinking. it's been interesting.

When I hear the term "emotional fervor" I can't help but think of my experience as a youth when visiting a Pentecostal church with my friend--nearly scared me out of my wits! Talk about emotional fervor--people speaking in tongues, shouting, jumping around, dancing (like I'd never seen before), being "slain in the spirit" as they called it.

What I see in Barack Obama is intelligence, a positive attitude, and hope for change which is being met with enthusiasm (not what I would call emotional fervor) being experienced by both black and white. Hillary wants some of this action, which is why I believe she's put the black lady in charge--someone who can better reach other blacks who might otherwise contribute to or vote for Obama. She needs that black vote all the media is saying is going to Obama. Hillary recently loaned her campaign 5 million and make it public, suddenly she's received 10 million in donations. She's working it! Someone here said we ain't seen nothin' yet. This contest will go on!

By the way, I read up some on Vince Foster's suicide today. I got the distinct impression he was asked to do something, or knew something, that was a direct violation of his personal integrity and morals that he didn't want to be involved in.

yeah, theres some "stuff" there.......vince foster and all....
funny you should say that about emotional fervor. when i was
a kid i used to check out churches just to see why i never got
"that feelin"....never did. i'm convinced god is like the store.
i may go this route, you may go another, but all that matters
is that we reach the " store"... Wink Wink Wink

now if this new lady comes out with some negative crap, she'll
just hurt hillary more, like bob johnson (the idiot) did with his
dumb comments. most blacks feel johnson ( Butt Envy Television )
has been personally responsible for lowering the ethical standards
of black children, thereby, relegating himself to that of a shufflin
shiftless negro buffoonish clown..he was another mistake she made.
