As much as patriot is thrown around in Washington these days, I'm guessing most of those touting it (on both sides of the aisle) are using this definition rather than mine.

Of course, anyone ignoring the National Anthem is wrong. If you are like me, you believe the person is wrong because he is being unpatriotic and unrespectful to our country. If you don't believe that patriotism and respect for a flag or anthem is a necessity, you can probably concede that he was being rude to the performer(s) (if the anthem was performed live) or to those who were demonstrating their respect.
The only exception I will make is 1991 Chicago Stadium before the NHL All-Star Game. Cheering during the national anthem at a Blackhawks game is still a tradition, but this one is the best.
That was awesome Tegan. I wish all cities in the US did that.

I love that video. Unfortunately, Chicago Stadium was replaced and today when people cheer during the National Anthem, its not quite as inspirational as in 1991, but it still is an experience to behold.
There was a similar experience when the NFL started back up after September 11th, I think...

Now if only those people could live every day of their lives with that same enthusiasm, our country would be a far better place. And a side note to FC: You are not alone in your response to that video. I too sit here with teary eyes. I lived in Chitown for about 3 years (92-95) and spent quite a few nights in Chicago stadium and it is truly a powerful feeling being in that crowd pre-game.
