How often does this happen? This was three times in one week. How often does it normally happen?
FLINT - For the third time in a week, Flint police officers were shot at Wednesday.
Members of the Crime Area Target Team were working on drug-dealing activity in the Woodhall Drive neighborhood off Fleming Road around 10 p.m. when shots were fired at them.
No officers were injured, and police did not return fire. One man was arrested with drugs and a weapon was seized, but it is unknown whether he also was involved in the shooting.
Early Wednesday, Flint police were in a shootout with one of two armed robbery suspects on the city's westside near Arlene and Barney avenues.
One suspect, who was wounded in the hand by an officer, was scheduled to be arraigned on armed robbery, assault and felony firearms charges today.
And last Wednesday, there was a drive-by shooting in the same Woodhall Drive neighborhood. Police chased suspects to the Hasselbring Community Center, where shots were also fired.

Appears to me, Flint officers need more time on the shooting range. unless that officer was actually trying to shoot the guy in the hand. I know it sounds cold. But, it's just like when a vigilante in a big city takes out a criminal. Crime drops for about 6 months following the incident. |

I was thinking the same thing. I wonder if we have sniper rifles and snipers on the force? I don't have a problem with people who fire on cops getting killed. To be fair though it can be hard to hit someone with a handgun unless it's at close range. I think some police officers in various departments also carry a rifle for the accuracy but I don't know if Flint police do. I think if we would have had 3 fatalities of criminals gunned down by police snipers criminals would be thinking twice about firing on Flint police which is the way it should be. If an officer is more worried about getting killed they may be less likely to want to get out of their cars and do investigations. |
