the skilled trades......... Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Not jealous at all. It's the union guys that play the class warfare card. I'm just a capitalist. Tell me...what makes a person with no skills and no education worth $100k when, obviously, people line up to do the work for much, much less?

(Never wanted to work in the factory, and quite glad. They done rode that gravy train outta town!)

I graduated from High School & went to Mott (then JC) for a year. Enlisted in the AIr Force for 4 years & got training in communications systems installation & maintenance. Went to Vietnam & extended my tour for 6 months so I could finish out my enlistment there & not be reassigned for 6 months. Got hired by Buick as a press operator, then transferred to the foundry where I hauled the patterns out to the lines. After 7 years, i got an apprenticeship as an electrician. After 4 years of training and 2 years at Mott, I became a Journeyman electrician. So, I had some education and skills. AND, I NEVER made 100K. The most I made in a year was $76,000, and I only did that once. Time at home with my family was more important than working overtime and making big bucks.

First & foremost, thank you for your service to our country. Second, my $100k figure was a total compensation package (and current). If you add health/vision/dental/retirement to your $76k, you'd have no trouble getting to $100k. Finally, I should have been more clear. There certainly are skilled trades in the factories. I was speaking more to assembly.

Still waiting for an answer to my question.

And I don't listen to Rush or Bill (whomever that is).

You're absolutely right...supply and demand is causing the loss of factory jobs. The supply of labor far outpaces the number of jobs, causing wages to decline.

And I don't know where you dream up that crap. I have never been jealous of a factory worker, nor do I care how many toys they have.

And I certainly never suggested they were heathen.
