First, the $28.8 million deficit fund balance was a slightly exaggerated number. It was actually $26.255 million and that was as of 6/30/02. Mr. Kurtz inherited that deficit fund balance and ultimately reduced it to a $7.789 million deficit fund balance before the Don took power. Second, the $8.915 million surplus fund balance was as of 6/30/06. We're still waiting for the number as of 6/30/07, which, based on news reports, will assuredly be lower. My bet is that if it is good news, it will be released prior to the election. THen thinks a 60 percent drop because he finally opens the jail in an election year is going to convince people he is actually doing something about crime. Wake up people.
