Has a pdf file from 2003 analyzing Flint's tax structure. Apparently Flint Detroit http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060411/OPINION01/604110304/1008 and Saginaw have some of the highest tax rates in the state. It's interesteing that these cities seem to have the most problems as well. That could be explainable because high wage earners would probably be better off living in every other city in Genesee county besides Flint and Fenton if they did not like paying high taxes. I'm curious if Grand Blanc has a low tax rate. I know Florida has a lot of rich people that moved there for the tax havens it provides. I don't think they even have a property tax in Florida but on the other hand having our high taxes helps us have 3 or 4 libraries as well as our many social welfare programs and social welfare agencies.

Adam, Your answer to your question was in that report!

I read through it briefly. Hmmm, I don't even have a college degree and the report agrees with me. Flint needs to build it's tax base. Values have been declining for years. (while in all actuality my taxes have still been going up). With Crime as high as it is and jobs leaving the area fast. Something more needs to be done other than making outrageous claims as to how the war on Crime is going. And how many really jobs are being created in Flint.

Bring Crime DOWN!!
Make Flint Safe!!

and Property values will go up. Tax base will increase. Jobs will be created.

No one wants to move to an area that boasts "Second highest crime rate in the Nation" and "Fourth most dangerous city to live in."

C'mon DON! Since you've been in Office. The downward trend in crime came to an abrupt halt. We had the first MAJOR INCREASES in crime rates in over TEN YEARS. Something more than talking about it needs to be DONE!

Quit trying to bring your casino to Mt. Morris and bring some real jobs to Flint!
