FLINT TWP. -- A van emblazoned with Flint Mayor Don Williamson's name was
sidelined Thursday morning when a state police motor carrier officer confiscated
its dealership license plate.
Mayoral ally Joe Wilson was eastbound on I-69 near I-75 when he was pulled
over about 9:15 a.m. for having an improper plate.
The van had a dealership plate from Patsy Lou Williamson, but police said
state law mandates that such plates only be used for test drives.
The Williamsons were not in the van when it was stopped, police said.
Mayoral critics have accused Williamson of violating campaign finance laws by
accepting corporate contributions because they say the campaign uses
vehicles from his wife's dealership.
The Secretary of State is investigating those allegations.
Although the van had Don Williamson's name on it, the mayor said it was not
being used for his re-election campaign.
"It was not a campaign van," Don Williamson said.
Williamson said he had just traded the van in last weekend and said Wilson --
who frequently staffs Williamson's campaign headquarters -- may have been
showing someone the van for sale.
The plate was seized and will be destroyed.
A ticket was issued to the dealership and Wilson was told to drive the van
directly back to the dealership. The citation is a misdemeanor traffic
violation.
Williamson on Thursday afternoon said he believes police were wrong to issue
a ticket.
"I'm aware that is not the law," said Williamson.
Williamson, however, would not say if the dealership will fight the ticket.
"I'm not even aware that it happened," said Williamson.

LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL

This is too funny. He's been driving around for years like this and the wheels of justice have made it to the bottom of the hill.

So does Mr Wilson work for the Williamson dealership and the city? Is this an instance where a city employee is working for Mr Williamson's private enterprise, and not on City of Flint business?

Joe Wilson is not a city employee, he can't be. He retired from the city before becoming sheriff. He works directly for Williamson. He's one of "The Don's" lap dogs and does whatever the boss asks him to.

I think it's about time he got busted driving with dealer plates. "The Don" has driven that van with dealer plates on it since the first day he bought the election.

Peggy Cook drives an SUV with dealer plates on it every day as well. So does Mr. Peggy Cook (Another one of the mayor's lap dogs). He drives around a truck with the dealership's name on it and a dealer plate doing city business.

Most of the mayor's campaign workers drive around with dealer plates as well.

The state police needs to step up and investigate these as well.

Joe Wilson is a decent guy. It saddens me when I see people like him and Joe Conroy alligning themselves with the Don. I would have thought these people had better taste than that. Oh well, it's amazing what some people will do for a few greenbacks waved in front of their noses.

Shame on these two Joe's. They've forever tarnished their names in the city of Flint.
