1. When do the newly elected school board members take office?

2. Should outgoing school board members have a role in appointing the new interim superintendent the incoming board members will be working with?

3. Would there be a conflict of interest between relatives serving as board member and interim superintendent? Linda Thompson, one of the two being considered for interim superintendent, and Fred W. Bashir, newly elected board member, are brother and sister. [Source: "DISMISSED; Allegiance to Milton, reform plan costs 3 incumbents," Flint Journal, 05/09/07.]

4. Prior to making the selection, should the current school board do background checks on all who are being considered for the interim superintendent position?
