I believe that is the correct date. As I work those days and only watch on Sunday. So i'm assuming I'm naming the correct day.
I must say WOW!!

I'm going to go back and watch it again with a note pad. I was thrilled to see the people get up before council and call it like it like they see it. Our council people don't seem to understand that we are WATCHING. And when we SEE. Everything, that Don sends down the pike. The council following and voting right in line. It appears that they approve everything without question. (We are not sitting up nights and dreaming this up, True or Not, that is exactly what we are seeing!) Now, Don made that ludicrous “State of the City address”. We didn't hear any council members come out and say anything for or against what was stated. The new council has done nothing to influence the Mayor (that we can see) when it comes to his relationship with the WHOLE council. When the Mayor goes out of his way to run down certain city council members. SOMEONE on the Council should be taking the leadership initiative to go to the mayor and be expressing some serious concerns.

The Facts for this city is 2005 was that Crime went up for the second year in a row! There isn't any way to get around that. The City website proves it! No one on council took the lead. No One came out and said anything contrary to what the Mayor said. What are we the citizens supposed to think? What other option do we have to believe?

Those of us who do not sit around with our heads in the sand waiting for someone to mow our lawns for us to vote for them. Or wait for the Mayors crew to come by and paint the graffiti brown, or cut our trees for us. Actually spend some time looking and analyzing what is going on in our government on our streets. When we hear the people we voted for (to whomever it applies) make statements about Al Pachnio or Gangsta Rap or "Don't Snitch" T-shirts, AS IF ANY OF THOSE THINGS do 1/2 percent to fix or address the crime problems in Flint. It shows they just don't get it?!?

Oh and Finally, Mr. Taylor speaks up…Oops, That was Kincaid. Stepped up and explained what Council can and cannot do. Where was that when the gentleman a few meetings back was running over on time and was allowed to run down his former councilman during overtime. It was when Mr. Anninch got information from him, to send out a REFERRAL!! Because it was something City Council could not address!

Now, not very often do I jump up out of my chair and do my Chris Farly dance. But, I am finally starting to see people I do not even know or have never met. Say the same things I’ve been saying from the start. True or NOT. It is difficult to prove the council is not rubber stamping everything the Mayor send to council. When obvious misstatements like the ones in the State of the city address are left unchallenged! If anything that proves that they are rubber stamping the Mayor agenda. Which hasn’t ever appeared to be an agenda that is any but looking out for his interests. Not the City of Flint’s. And you guys know I have a laundry list of those items. From building his company’s plants in Flint to building his Casino in Mt. Morris. There are more and everybody knows it. I’m just the only one dumb enough to say it out loud. My personal integrity does not allow me to hide my opinions or keep from calling it like I see it. I can see that I’m not the only one that see it that way.

Every time, something that is obviously not true. That has been said by the Mayors office. And City council ends up approving it, (possibly even because of reasons not even related to anything he said). That looks like a rubber stamp. And if no one is willing to stand up and say. Tahoes are not safer, are not less expensive, and cost more to maintain, however, we are getting them because???? Or C&S Motors is a Flint business, they have submitted the lower bid, There really isn't any difference in the cost of Maintenance or the quality between the International and the Peter-bilts; However, This is why we are approving spending more for these vehicles.

Without honest full disclosure. It appears to be a rubber stamp. True or not. Someone better start taking the lead down there. That goes for everything. From the way these meetings are being run to the decisions we read about and see at the meetings.

Because of where I work. I do not get many actual Flint residents in the store. But, I do get quite a few that are former residents. I was surprised how many watch Sunday’s city council meetings. The one lady mentioned to me "I thought they were going to run their meetings on a different level". "I was watching a few weeks back and they let some guy run down their former councilman after his time limit was up." “What was that all about?” I bust out laughing. I knew, I just knew, I was not the only one seeing that. They can pat themselves on the back and citizens can pat themselves on their backs for “Not bickering”. But what has really changed? They really seem to get upset when you try to point out what they are doing... However, are just fine with letting people slam on others. That are not there to defend themselves.

I realize the council is looking at everything from a completely different perspective. But, they really ought to sit down and watch themselves on TV on Sunday and start looking at what WE SEE. It looks a whole lot different watching from where I'm sitting. Then the way they keep saying it is. It appears like a rubber stamp. When they approve paying one of the Mayor’s friends for doing work in the City when the Bid process was not followed. With out barely any discussion as to why the Citizens should foot the bill. When not one step in the process was legitimate from the beginning. From OUR prospective, “There wasn’t anyone in Flint that could have done this work?” “If it was something that needed to be done right away, we couldn’t have taken two minutes to call purchasing to at least see who had the last contract? Stuff like that REEKS of payoff. True or not? The appearance is bad from the beginning.

I believe it was the 1st or 2nd meeting, The Mayor sent down his proposal for grant money distribution. The whole process of applying for and receiving grant money has been abolished. With just one vote. The former council had approved the 1.4 million for payments. Which we eventually lost. Now Greater Eastside is being sued by the city because they didn’t full fill the contract that that money was pay for. Doesn’t this sound the least bit ludicrous to anyone? Back to the process. From now on. The Mayor has complete control over all grant money and where it goes. Not just this Mayor, but all in the future. The old way, of, committee and community input is gone. Unless you are a friend of the Mayor and willing to play politics his way. WHY? Because we still do not have any explanation as to why we lost the 1.4 million dollars. And the new council doesn’t seem to have the will or desire to find out. So we the citizens have to ask again. WHY? It’s money that was given to our communities. And it was lost! WHY? But, the council will squabble over 26k 0 56k over a secretary… What kind of crap is that. We will spend 20 percent more for Tahoes instead of Impalas… and 26k – 56k gets scrutinized. This isn’t even between the Mayor and Council.. this is in HOUSE! That’s what we see?

I'm not saying someone trying to kill Binion but I think it is worth someone wasting 5 or 10 minutes asking Binion what she thinks and "wasting there time" comparing her sudden almost deadly syptoms to someone that has been poisoned. There are people that would kill to stay out of jail right? Can't an ombudsman investigation lead to a criminal investigation if any criminal wrongdoing is found. I'm not implying who would have tried to kill her but I just think there are things worth looking into and I feel that mysterious unexplainable illness of the cheif investigator for the city is worth looking into. It's not a statement of fact but I don't think you can 100% prove it either way. It just seems shady to me that this "mysterious illness" happened to her. Sorry for busting out with the so called conspiracy theories but it would only take one person out of 100,000 to try something on her. We have people getting killed all the time in this city. Some for $100 dollars in cash. I'm sure we have people willing to kill to stay out of jail.

I also think it's dumb of us to vote on and approve a casino but not follow up on it? What the heck happened to it? Doesn't anyone care about 100's if not 1000's of jobs???

I'm not 100% sure how one person worried about an ombudsman investigation and trying to eliminate the threat is too far fetched of a conspiracy theory though.

Adam, I think your stretching a bit far with the poisoning angle.

I was just pointing out, that, when things like contracts given to people without going through the process, appear to be payoffs. That may not be the case. But, if there is a system in place. There needs to be an emergency, or a darn good reason, in order to by pass the process. If there was such an emergency, that these trees needed to be cut down. By a business in Saginaw. It doesn't see that there was any emergency. What reason could the Mayor have for bypassing the process? Since there wasn't a emergency or darn good reason. Why did the council vote so easily to pay them for the work they did? They had never approved the contract. There needed to be a much better explanation given other than "new spirit of cooperation" between the Mayor and Council. There needs to be good reasons. Not just because we are trying to get along.

I don't know any of the story related to Binion’s illness. he only thing I can say. Is when Binion could no longer perform her duties. The council at that time should have stepped up to the plate and dismissed her. Then appointed someone new. The former council is to blame for allowing that office to fail. Not, Binion. They had a responsibility to the people in which they failed miserably. Friend, family or not. If your not doing the job. I'll fire ya! I don't play favorites, and i don't overlook something because we went to school together.

My other point I meant to mention. Was that the council is scrutinizing Ms. Browns choice for the secretary. Yet, when the Mayor's office changed the qualifications for Parks and Rec. director. So that Peggy's husband could no fill the position. The Council passed his appointment. There were a few dissenting votes. But, he got the job. They approved it. This falls right back to "WE ARE WACTHING" What are we supposed to think? We are supposed to think that he was best qualified to fill the position? Based on his work within the Williamson clean up campaign? I just don't see any other way to view that other than rubber stamping the Mayor's desires. True or not? None of the reasons given to date seem strong enough to believe anything else.

So, when the State of the city address. Started out right off the bat. Making the outrageous claim that "MAJOR CRIME WAS REDUCED." Then no one on the council dared to speck the truth. That in 2005 crime went up 12% from the year before. And that Crime was already up 17% since Don took office. When the former council approved the hiring of new officers. Don should have been doing back flips hiring more officers. But, no. He sat on his hands, then proclaimed Major Crime reduced. If He reduced Major crime in Flint. With the force we have. Why then do we need additional officers?

This is what bugs me. These are obvious questions no one seems to want to ask? I don't understand why We cannot get accountability from the Mayor's office. And then when things come up that are obviously false. The council says nothing. Unless they are defending themselves over something they have no influence. If I remember the debates correctly. All of them had something to say about crime in Flint. Yet none of them admitted they really have no affect and that the Mayor is the one that can have an affect. on crime. And just incase I haven't stated it enough. Crime has gone up the last two years with Don Williamson running the show. There has a major increase in crime not a reduction. I guess it could have been a typo. Maybe he did mean to say “Major Increase.”
But I doubt it.

The Casino Deal. Yes, when Don says he is bringing jobs to Flint. He was really talking about bringing jobs to his casino in Mt. Morris. Which Kildee will not go to bat for him to build it. When Don talks about building after market parts plant in Flint. Whose business do you think he intends on bringing? No manufacturing company I know of. Moves into a plant that was built and designed for another businesses specifications. If McDonalds puts up a restaurant where a KFC used to be. They tear down the old and build new. They do not move into that building. I’m going to have to drive by popeyes. I’m wondering if they built their own store or if they moved into a building that was already there.

Ted,

Sorry about the last post. I had Steve edit it and change it. I'm just getting a little frustrated. The crime and lack of jobs bothers me sometimes and although it seems really crazy. if there was any criminals somehow connected to city government, I feel an ombudsman could present a threat so that is why I feel it is worth spending a small amount of time looking into Binion's mysterious illness. Once again, sorry for the crazy conspiracy stuff. Sometimes posts can come off the wrong way here.
