listening to the scanner all the time, I used to hear officers tell dispatch they would be out of the car & walking a neighborhood. I haven't heard that for over a week, now. Did the foot patrol just quietly vanish?

Pushing buttons sure can be fun.

When a lion wants to go somewhere, he doesn’t worry about how many hyenas are in the way.

Paddle faster, I hear banjos.

As all the officers on here attempted to point out, it cannot work with the current staffing levels. The call volume is too high to allow officers to wander around and wave at people. We need police response.

That's why I told 911 I didn't expect an officer to respond yesterday when I reported illegal dumping going on at a house behind mine. I just wanted it on record.

Right now, the only time an officer should be on foot is when he's chasing a perp.

We have foot patrol now because of Walling's childhood memories and faulty advice.
Other Michigan communities have had to eliminate community policing because of the loss in revenue sharing.

Maybe he'll bring back "The Singing Cop", AKA Lt. Wilburn Legree.

"I like the friendly Cop; when he holds up his hand I stop.
He's big and strong, and very kind, and so I watch and try to mind."

Yeah, I'm old; so what? Deal with it.
