I heard 10 shots about 8:30 this morning. Per the scanner, Begole & Ballanger.

Actually they started at 12:30 a.m. near Ballenger, Welch and Brownell-large caliber. They moved down to Welch near Seminole an hour later and repeated 45 minutes later. The 911 said no police would come. Makes you wonder how many other code 1 calls were happening.

They continued all day and were strong off Dayton near the Haskell Center about 5:30 pm. What happened to the Haskell mini station opening. Another lie by Walling! Volunteers who passed their background checks are not being used. And they installed a new heating system.

I found an unspent .44 magnum round near the curb just out from the flinttalkradio studio this morning. I added it to my collection and thank God it wasn't in a human over at Hurley.

Response to paragraph one....Great, I deliver in those areas, sometimes...oy.

Response to paragraph two.....It's stated over and over again to police volunteers, even touted by Volunteers In Police Service that police volunteers are not to be confrontational, nor are they to put their lives at risk...If they feel safe, maybe then they will volunteer at the proposed mini-station, but until then it just may be a vacant building.

The person that called 911 on this also told me that she has a neighbor that's a retired Flint Police officer. he said the shots were "testing" by gangs to see how fast Police would respond. It gives them an idea of how m uch time they have to do their deeds.

If you choose to keep a gun in your home , learn how to use it,know how to find it quickly and in the dark when you're half asleep.Keep it in Exactley the same place consistently. If you leave it in your home when away,do not keep it under your bed or any other obvious place,it may not be there when you return.Did I say learn how to use it ? Use hearing and eye protection when you practice and practice often (My ears haven't stopped ringing since the 70's,you wouldn't like it,get muffs)
I may be preaching to the choir, but then not everyone grew up with weapons in their home.If you didn't,get some sound advice. There are several reputable gun shops in the area.Be prepared for what's coming.

The best addition you can have to your in home weapon is to have a good strong handheld or attached light available for target ID.

I go to the range regularly - a couple hundred rounds per month, minimum. The pistol is in exactly the same place on the dresser next to the bed every night, & the night sights make it easy to find. Actually, I've practiced & can grab it with my eyes shut. Right hand grabs the pistol & the left goes automatically to the 3 D-cell Maglight. I can also grab the 12ga with 18" barrel that stands next to the headboard with my eyes shut. Ear protection - firing a 45 with +P loads ONCE in an enclosed space is an experience you won't soon forget. I know.
My ears have been ringing since Vietnam in 63 & 64. I'm at the point where I can pretty much ignore it.

This doesn't surprize me in the least. Police officers know that they are not going to be arrive JUST IN TIME to save people. It is the Police Chiefs who are often anti gun ownership for civillians ,not the average street patrol cop. Chiefs often have political aspirations and many want to make sure they are in Politically Correct position for their possible future political run. I think it is strage that street partol officers, people who will have to deal with guns on the streets , encourage people to learn how to use firearms and to obtain them if they don't have them, And it is the "pencil pushers" who typically are sitting on their duffs back at the offices want to see citizens disarmed . Begs the question of who is really looking out for the best interests of the citizenry doen't it?
Get training if you want own a firearm, regardless if you intent to carry openly or concealed. Know yourself , know your firearm. One class I attended had this very sobering thought written on the chalkboard : REMEMBER,EVERY BULLET HAS LAWYER CONNECTED TO IT" .
And to those who are anti gun ownership I have this question to ask you. If we have no police officers to respond to calls who is going to help the citizen in need? And make no mistake about it, the criminals read the papers and listen to TV and radios like the rest of us, so they know they have a greater chance of getting away with things.

We had the same deal going on when MI was attempting to implement Right to Carry. The sheriff at that time was Joe Wilson who was constantly on radio via Dave Barber and ch 12 along with the prosecutor Art Busch telling all what a bad idea shall issue was based only on their hystericle liberal agenda and not on any factual info.

Another suggestion for anyone contemplating a firearm for protection is to familiarize yourself with Michigans castle doctrine law which makes it much tougher for some leech lawyer to sue you in the event you are forced to use your firearm to protect yourself against that punk who was "Just turning his life around".

I also suggest you take some time to decide just how far involved you as a legal firearm owner and probably carrier are willing to go to come to the aid of a stranger. You are not lawenforcement and could be putting your whole future on the line by jumping into a scenerio that might not be as it appear"s

My wife and myself long ago decided that our legally carried firearms are for the protection of her myself and our family and we will not use them to intervene into someone elses goings on. Break out the cell phone contact lawenforcement and keep our distance. Sounds kinda selfish but unless you know for sure whats actually going on you best stay out of it. Dont forget that ever present sue crazy lawyer just waiting for you to screw up.
Lots of good info here.
