Honestly, if some of you would get past your delusions about public radio, you might be entertained and informed more often.

Listen to this, from a weekly short called "The Unger Report", this one titled "How To Buck Up A Sad Labor Market"

(or click here instead: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=97396781)

Me too. I've found the only people who don't haven't actually listened to it. It's addictive. In depth news stories and interviews that last more than two minutes and without commercial interruption, funny shows like "This American Life" , and my personal favorite, "On the Media" . (edited... by......Brooke)

Seriously, if you're not listening to it, it's your own loss.

91.1 or 91.7 on the FM dial around Flint, MI, or live simulcast on www.MichiganRadio.org . You can also get podcasts to shows daily on I-Tunes or other services for free. For news and social discussions and interviews I recommend "Fresh Air", "The Diane Rehm Show", and "Talk of the Nation". For humor and entertainment I suggest "This American Life".

www.NPR.org has a station finder for those of you outside of the Flint area.

For some reason the Michigan radio site isn't working right now, at least on my browser.

Since it's the weekend, I'll suggest their best weekend shows, "Car Talk" (very funny, even for those who hate cars), the quiz show "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me...", and sometimes "Prairie Home Companion" (although I'd turn the volume down during some of the musical numbers, and I have a corny sense of humor, some might not like this show for that reason).

Stay away from "Splendid Table", its dreadfully boring.

Yes, the car talk guys are the two brothers, Tom and Ray, and they spend a large part of the show laughing.

Just to clarify for those just tuning in....the "Al Sharpton show" is NOT on NPR. As an NPR nut, I would be remiss if I didn't clear that up. Razz

I don't know where you are, Two Tap, but if you're way up north, I wonder if you're receiving the station out of Alpena. They have a transmitter on the same frequency which broadcasts Central Michigan University's station. I listen to it when I get out there. It has some of the same shows, but not all of the ones on the U. of Mich station.
