chart from Washington Post

95% of the us make less than $226,981, and under the Obama plan would get a tax cut.

Over ten years, the Tax Policy Center estimates that McCain’s proposal will increase the national debt by $4.5 trillion and Obama’s COULD add as much as $3.3 trillion.

By lowering payroll taxes, not just income taxes. But to be clear, the number is for "working families," not for all Americans. There's no question, however, that the majority of Americans who pay taxes will pay much less taxes under Obama's proposals than under McCain's.

Here's the same data Marko posted, but adjusted to more accurately indicate the percentage of population affected by the proposed tax changes:

(From Chartjunk .)

This chart actually makes McCain look better to the middle class than he actually would be, because it doesn't include McCain's hidden tax increase on workplace health care plans .

Great idea...why not just make people tax exempt?

Oh wait...that would be what? Un-American.

You non tax paying people are going to kill our country.

Unemployed people also pay less taxes so Obama may "help out" a few million more Americans that way as well.

Democrats tax and spend, Republicans borrow and spend. Over the last 50 years Democrats raised taxes more, Republicans raised the deficit more.

Here's a story: 2 old guys, both need a wheelchair. One pays cash. The other guy goes to the bank, takes out a loan, and has his children cosign, so that if he dies they have to pay off the loan.

Which old guy is the conservative?
