FLINT - Family members of a Flint man slain early Wednesday said he was killed only hours after testifying at an arson trial and after receiving threats.

"He told the cops he would need protection," said Patricia Turberville, sister of the victim, Ronnie D. Turberville, 41. "He testified, and he got shot in the head. " He thought he was doing the right thing."

Homicide investigators said this morning they were not aware that threats were made against Ronnie Turberville.

Police have arrested two male suspects after receiving information from witnesses. No other information was immediately available.

Police were called to a pop-up trailer in the backyard at 1725 Mabel Ave. shortly after midnight Wednesday and found Turberville's body in the trailer's bed.

Family members said the body was discovered by Turberville's 21-year-old son, who owns the home. They said the father of five, who ran a carpet cleaning business and worked in a junkyard, had tried to contact police as late as Monday about the threats, but they didn't respond.

"We just want justice done," Patricia Turberville said.

She also said the family needs money to pay for the funeral and is seeking donations.

Money can be sent to the Dort Federal Credit Union, Ronnie Dewayne Turberville Memorial Fund, 2845 Davison Road, Flint, MI 48506, P.O. Box 1635.

Anyone with information on the slaying is asked to call Flint police Sgt. Roderick LeGardye at (810) 237-6929 or the patrol bureau at (810) 237-6801.
