They loved Clinton, and she creamed Obama in the primaries. While others can claim Appalachia won't vote for Obama because of race , I'm convinced that is only a part of it. You have to consider the legacy of proud Scott coalminers going back almost 200 years. Their are lots of people they don't trust (including Republicans). It will be interesting to see if Obama can turn them around or if he'll even try. My guess is that both sides will basically ignore them, and turnout will be low. Appalachian voters must feel like they're caught between a rock and a hard place right now.
