Lake Woman, I've received no new information since the last time you asked that question. I'm working on it. I'm still waiting to hear if you're able to help out. Are you? |

I just got off of the phone with a coordinator for the Land Bank. He had some pretty interesting info about the hotels some of you had mentioned here. He said no Land Bank money was spent on them, that the money came from grants, and that the hotels were to sold for funds to put towards more demolition and maintenance on residential lots. He is going to get in touch with the person who coordinates lawn volunteers and get back with me soon. In the meantime, I would like to get a better idea of who can help, so we can figure how big this project can be. I think I have about six of you, but I'm not sure how many lawn mowers we have. |

That's up to the aforementioned lawn volunteer coordinator, who has just been given my contact info moments ago. The location of our work will depend on where he thinks we would be most helpful, based on our numbers and tools. |

My bet is that it won't be in the east or North sides of Flint. |

If they can find grants for that, why can't, or won't, they find grants for the North & East sides? |

I intend to specifically ask about certain areas that people have brought to my attention, including. . . .the north end and. . .THE EAST SIDE. |

Carriage Town/Downtown/Grand Traverse Areas is my bet, they get the bulk of CDBG funding, and development.

Like I said before:

just got off of the phone with a representative of the Land Bank (810.257.3088). They confirmed that no property is taken from tax-paying land owners. In fact, several steps must occur before the Land Bank takes possession of any property. The process by which the county treasurer takes the property takes three years, and doesn't begin until the owner stops paying property tax. The Land Bank doesn't take possession unless the property goes unsold at an auction, AND the city declines an offer from the county to take possession of the land. As you can see, claims by the mayor and Adam are, once again, pure bunk.
You're still repeating the same bunk, Adam. |

I personally tried putting some land bank property back on the tax rolls but it was a pain in the ass so I had to give up on that idea. Obviously they are not in a great situation and not every single one of the properties may be able to be put back on the market but I feel they could be doing a much better job.
I don't have a problem with them seizing property but I think they need to put more property back on the tax rolls.
To be keeping 3,100 properties of the market and off the tax rolls is unacceptable in a city starving for tax dollars and jobs and revenue. |

Contact the land bank and voice your concerns, maybe they know nothing about and can come out and help get rid of the problem!!

They know about it. They've been contacted several times & give the same answer - no money. |
