Andi , I am not saying if I support or don't support the recall. I am simply saying this guy is a Machine, and its going to be hard to beat him. Unlike Woody's recall, Williamson has a big support group of East Siders, South Siders and Black Churches.

Did you just happen to catch his "Saving America" commercial on the Golf Channel, the producer of the commercial liked Pink Floyd...I am sure.

Dude, he's a machine that is going to peter out really soon...you can only make a house of cards so tall before it comes tumbling down...and one of those cards is the joker.

If a non-partisan group not supporting one side or the other on the recall held a informational forum presenting both sides on this recall election....

Would you attend????

Peace.

Would it be like a debate? Because you know the recall representative would need an opportunity to rebut the bald face lies Williamson or his representative would tell.

So far, the only thing I've seen in favor of a recall is a bunch of ranting about how Don's a crook. That, and vague statements alluding to various things. A lot of generalities but no specifics.

Well a recall or impeachment does consists of real facts,
and not dislike hearsays. The recall should have taken
place just before the election recall law date (which is six
months after a person is in office), and not two years later.
A suggestion from past recall experience always collect
physical proof of wrongdoing or corruption. Is this guy a
clone or twin of Detroit's former Mayor Kilpatrick? If so why
did the voters vote him into office?

This information can be reviewed by going to
http://www.legislature.mi.gov type in Michigan
Election Law (act 116 of 1954) 168.961 or 168.963.

ManinthePinStripeSuit, the six month time line you mention is the earliest you can file recall language after an election. That only begins the process. The language must be approved, then the recall backers must collect the necessary signatures, and then the signatures must be validated. This all takes time. It is not possible to have a recall vote within six months.

As far as the mayor's failures...they are nearly too numerous to list. However, for the sake of argument, we can start with obliterated fiscal surplus the city maintained for the past 3 years. How did this occur? The mayor paid various block clubs and churches for their support in the last mayoral election. The mayor also hired several of the various church leaders children as additional incentive to support him. The mayor also refused to follow the city charter and take purchase orders before city council for approval. Instead he deemed everything an "emergency purchase" as a way to circumvent the process. The mayor has also borrowed millions from the city's sewer fund to make unecessary purchases such as: a Chevrolet 1 ton dually for the deputy chief to drive home and back, another Chevrolet 1 ton dually for the police department's fleet coordinator to drive home and back, 5 new Dodge Chargers fully equiped with police accessories(1 for him to drive as he pleases, 1 for the chief to drive as he pleases, and the other three were actually assigned as take home vehicles to traffic enforcement officers). These purchases are just a sampling of the offensive and unecessary purchases he has made.
According to the audit that was recently completed by Plante & Moran, the city is outspending their revenue at a rate that will cause the city to go bankrupt within 3 years.

Moving away from the budget, we move into the numerous lawsuits that he has either personally caused or exacerbated through his arrogance and stubborn behavior. The prime example is the sewer damage lawsuit. That unpaid lawsuit now amounts to nearly $13 million and accrues interest of nearly $6000 a day. When the suit began the representing attorney approached the city and the city council and proposed a settlement that sould have cost the city less than $1.5 million. The mayor refused to settle the suit. The city has lost every appeal and still refuses to pay the settlement. This is just one of many lawsuits currently costing the city money, have cost the city money, or are going to cost the city money. All because of his arrogance.

Labor costs have skyrocketed under his regime. How can this be you may ask? Simple, he doesn't believe in unions and has played every game possible in an effort to bust them. In the police department for example, he created a special bureau of supervisors that outranked everyone in the department except the chief of police. He hand picked the members of the unit from the patrolmans rank without an application process, testing process or selection process. This resulted in several grievances and unfair labor practices being filed against the city. The city employed outside legal representation to defend the suits. The Michigan Employment Relation Commission ruled against the city and the unit was disbanded. On top of that, several members of the department have active racial discrimination lawsuits filed against the city over the same appointments.

Moving on to public safety. The mayor boasted during his mayoral campaign that the city jail would stay open and was "solid as the Rock of Gibralter". The city jail is now closed. On top of that, the mayor has laid off more than 45 police officers and lost an additional 15 or more through attrition. The mayor has demoted numerous supervisors, nearly decimating the Captains and Lieutenants rank and reducing the sergeants rank to levels that make it nearly impossible to keep up with the caseload in the detective bureau. What has this done to the citizens of Flint? It has markedly increased the amount of time it takes for an officer to respond to a call, and it has made it necessary for detectives to prioritize their cases, pushing the property and/or nuisance crimes to the wayside. Though these crimes don't always affect life or limb or personal injury, they are certainly crimes that rapidly detriorate the quality of life in a community that is struggling to attract residents and businesses.

Without droning on any longer, I believe you can see, through the aforementioned facts, that the recall effort in our community is not about rumors or innuendos. This is also not about any other candidate or sour grapes from the last election. This is about incompetence and malfeasance and the need to right a sinking ship.

Yes a representative from both sides to speak.
It may be hard to get both to the table.

It would have voter info on Why or Why not to recall.

What the constituents could expect if a recall takes place.

Peace,
Rap

Williamson will never open himself up to a debate with the recall team. He would be severely out smarted and out witted. Unlike the debate with Walling during the election, the recall team has a bit of street saavy about them and are willing to banter. My money says he won't show.

Yeah, I can picture the recall mob shouting down anyone that disagrees with them.

I think that there is passion on both sides... that makes for good democracy.

Like the comments after any article even remotely related to the Mayor on the Journal's web site?
