Did you know???
I didn't know! How could we???

Did you know that 47 countries have reestablished
their embassies in Iraq?

Did you know that the Iraqi government
currently employs 1.2 million Iraqi people?

Did you know that 3100 schools have been renovated,
364 schools are under rehabilitation,
263 new schools are now under construction
and 38 new schools have been completed in Iraq ?

Did you know that Iraq 's higher educational
structure consists of 20 Universities,
46 Institutes or colleges and 4 research centers,
all currently operating?

Did you know that 25 Iraq students departed
for the United States in January 2005
for the re-established Fulbright program?

Did you know that the Iraqi Navy is operational?
They have 5 -100-foot patrol craft, 34 smaller vessels
and a naval infantry regiment.

Did you know that Iraq 's Air Force consists of three operational squadrons,
which includes 9 reconnaissance and 3 US C-130 transport aircraft
(under Iraqi operational control)
which operate day and night, and will soon add
16 UH-1 helicopters and 4 Bell Jet Rangers?

Did you know that Iraq has a counter-terrorist
unit and a Commando Battalion?

Did you know that the Iraqi Police Service has over 55,000
fully trained and equipped police officers?

Did you know that there are 5 Police Academies in Iraq
that produce over 3500 new officers every 8 weeks?

Did you know there are more than 1100
building projects going on in Iraq ?
They include 364 schools, 67 public clinics,
15 hospitals, 83 railroad stat ions,
22 oil facilities, 93 water facilities
and 69 electrical facilities.

Did you know that 96% of Iraqi children under the age of 5
have received the first 2 series of polio vaccinations?

Did you know that 4.3 million Iraqi children were
enrolled in primary school by mid October?

Did you know that there are 1,192,000
cell phone subscribers in Iraq
and phone use has gone up 158%?

Did you know that Iraq has an independent
media that consists of 75 radio stations,
180 newspapers and 10 television stations?

Did you know that the Baghdad Stock Exchange
opened in June of 2004?

Did you know that 2 candidates in the Iraqi
presidential election had a televised debate recently?

OF COURSE WE DIDN'T KNOW!

WHY DIDN'T WE KNOW?
BECAUSE...

OUR MEDIA WOULDN'T TELL US!

Tragically, the lack of accentuating the positive in Iraq serves two purposes:

It is intended to undermine the world's perception of the United States
thus minimizing consequent support,
and it is intended to discourage American citizens .

Most people who have it do not get it from Snopes. But the article you're quoting is there with explanation from Snopes at the bottom of the page.

I really wish you'd quit spamming this forum with totally UN-FACTCHECKED information again and again. People have pointed out snopes before. PLEASE do us the courtesy of checking out your lies before wasting our time.

You know, this irritates me so much I'm going to go on.

Every time I come here, I write an original post, with my own words, UNLESS I've been asked to present information or see something very different and out of the mainstream. By and large, though, 99% of my posts are my own thoughts.

But guess what? If I decide to make a FACTUAL claim in my post, or at least, what I believe to be the conventional wisdom, I go look it up first. It's called FACT CHECKING.

If I wanted a bunch of spam-lies-crap-unsubstantiated, I'd have only to go to my email and look at the 50 other e-mails I have full of them.

So look, we'd love to have you in a discussion; feel free to join in. But I will ask more politely this time, please don't just come here, dump a paste in a post and leave your mess. One of the reasons I come to this forum (albeit not as often lately) is to avoid just that.

It means there's so much CRAP in the post/mail whatever, they have to address some points individually -- with some being true and some being false. Or partially true paired with partially false. Or unverifiable.

Here, here, Demeralda! This would be hilarious if it weren't so blatantly oblivious to the daily tragedies endured by Iraqi civilians. Did you know . . . . the programs cited here as being 'in place' . . . aren't working? And much of that list of 'successes,' even if true, do not benefit Iraqis, but foreign (mostly U.S.) corporations – and therefore only add to the instability and hostility?

Honestly, like any of us can trust anything our government puts forth as proof of anything, much less 'success,' in Iraq. Mission Accomplished, Rummy!

PS: Your media doesn't tell you this either, Ponycar:

But they did report:

March 20, 2007 - USA Today publishes an article entitled, "Democracy's Support Sinks; Iraqis Disillusioned, Divided on Government." It reports that a recent USA Today/ABC News/BBC/ARD (German TV) poll found that the percentage of Iraqis who view democracy as the best system for their country has declined from 57 percent to 43 percent in 16 months, that 51 percent, including 94 percent of Sunnis, believe that attacks on U.S. forces are acceptable political acts, and that "[b]y more than 3 to 1, Iraqis say the presence of U.S. forces is making the security situation worse." (USA Today, 3/20/07)

Shocking! How can this be? According to, um, Poneycar?, The Baghdad Stock Exchange opened in June of 2004! I just don't understand why it hasn't produced piles and piles of peace dividends yet. Maybe they need another interest rate cut. Yes. I'm sure that will solve everything.
