Qualified??? All you have to do to be qualified is be a buddy of The Don. Isn't that qualified enough?
"Carpenter worked as a real estate developer who brokered at least some of Williamson's property deals and has known the mayor for 30 years.
Carpenter previously ran one of the mayor's auto parts plants for five years, participated in the mayor's Millionaire's Club, and helped Williamson plan a city-owned auto parts company that never materialized."

If Mr. Carpenter is qualified to do the job then why does mayor/admin (?) want to hire Ayres back on contract basis to assist?
Good point... not only do they want to hire him back but they only want him for just the summer months. For these four or five months of work they want to pay him $73,000.00.
The contract is on the agenda for Monday nights Council Meeting. |

Carpenter said on Thursday morning news that two shifts would work an extra 4 hours, thereby creating 24-hour clearing. |

man oh man..you really have this hate thing big time.
don't you understand that calling anyone those types of names
degrades your stock?
Your're going to have to point that on out to me? I've not pointed out anything that isn't common knowledge. (least wise to everyone but you).
quote:
what makes you say carpenter isn't qualified to do his job?
necessary degree?? man, i know folks with multiple degrees
who are dumber than a doorknob!! come on now...
your whole point here is like planting daisies and expecting them to sprout as Sunflowers. Doesn't matter. Ifhe doesn't POSSESS the Qualifacations. He doesn't Possess them. Do you think the hire heart specialists that don't have a degree and training? If I ever find one without the proper training. I guess I know one person that would be willing to have him work on his heart!

and the vehicle thing. sure an impala is cheaper to buy. i wonder
if the police appreciate tahoes more than impalas? i bet they do.
and anyway, the $15,000.00 difference times the amount of new
vehicles purchased ain't gonna break the bank if the police
want them. you may call it fiscally irresponsible but if i was in a
high-speed chase i'd appreciate the extra metal!!!!! i'll bet they do too.
I'll bet you won stock in chineese tea. Because you respond again without even addressing the reasoning used behind why they were purchased. I KNOW for sure the officers do appreciate the roomier Tahoes. But, that wasn't the reasoning behind purchasing them. SO what does this have anything to do with the reason?
High speed chases are frowned upon. If it goes over 35mph they are supposed to break off pursuit! Scary isn't it! And twotap, why would you want a vehicle that is prone to rollovers at high speed for a high speed pursuit?
While many others have made some really good points. The bottom line is qualifacations. Neccessary Degree. Lower cost or higher cost? I didn't bring up romminess because that wasn't the main reason. Besides, One the the main complainers on the Department about being cramped into an impala Drives a corvette. Hmm, WHich has more room. A Corvette or a Impala?
I didn't argue that there isn't a need for Tahoes. Because there is. They are a neccessary vehicle for Flint. Due to the size of some offenders. And many other reasons. But, those were not the main reasons and there was no discussion of purchasing some tahoes and Some Impalas which would have been more acceptable.
Oh and BTW What is the price of Tea in China. You sure seem to be an expert on those arguements. I figured you'd know. |

Well we sure know it's not an education or a clean criminal record. I'm trying to figure out how to get a criminal record so that I run an effective campaign. You don't get no respect in flint unless you've done some time! |

I don't mean to harp on the plowing thing, but seriously, it's the LOWEST HANGING FRUIT and he doesn't even do that right.
Tell me why Burton is completely plowed before work EVERY TIME there is a snow. Now, I understand maybe we can't pay overtime for city workers to come out in the middle of the night. Fine. But what excuse is there for MAJOR thoroughfares to not be plowed more than 2-3 days later? Tell me, what cars were parked on Corunna Road? Because I tried to drive it and nearly killed myself last week. And this was at the end of day on the second day after the snow.
Tell me, isn't that much SNOW worthy of an emergency spend, eh? Talk about loss of life and property. There's probably over 1,000 truck owners in this area with a plow on the front that would be happy to take some temp work on such a day. I'm no expert in this area, and I don't know what union contracts blah blah blah, but it just seems so obvious to me!
On another note: how does one know if a carpenter is qualified? You don't unless you've seen his work; the proof is in the pudding.
So how do I know if the major is qualified? Easy: same way, show me. Ted is right on some things -- crime got MUCH worse, and then he (the mayor) claimed the credit for the incredible recovery. Flint is no less dangerous than when he took office. And I won't even get into what he's cost the city in lawsuits because of HIM.
I drive around a lot, and I don't see any miraculous improvement in the major streets. Maybe he's been paving subdivisions, I don't know. But I can honestly and without prejudice say that I don't see any improvements in Flint that are attributable directly to the mayor. I see development in downtown, and that makes me very happy, but I'm not sure he did anything about that.
And one last question/comment. I'm sure most people have followed the story about the Genesee Towers. Ok, so I'm no lawyer, but even TO ME it is obvious what it means to enter into binding arbitration. So why does the city think it can now appeal that decision? Stupid lawyer, stupid mayor, stupid city... stupid voters. |

Kettering, North of Belsay Rd. wasn't plowed until Sunday. We had to drive down it Friday & it was a mess. Sunday was a little better. |
