By the way LTH, I know that it is true that several of the mayor's appointments don't work. Do your own research, find out what Mike Vance does in the mayors office and how much he gets paid to do nothing.

P.S. try not to accept the political answer you'll get from any of the other mayor cronies. Find out what he REALLY does.

The last time I monitored the flint cops it seemed like 90% of their calls involved checking for B-Es at abandoned houses. I know several of them sounded like that were fed up with that.

Dave, I understand that people THINK that bigger is better and stronger. Unfortunately that isn't so. If you checked out the page I referenceed above. You'd see that there is a 25% in cost between the two. One will not last 25 percent longre than the other!

LTH
quote:
i seriously doubt he purposely waited until crime went up to open the
city lock-up. i assume it was a matter of available funding and crime did go down after the opening. your saying he didn't do it soon enough
right?
Wether you doubt it or not. He did it. He hired 50 officers (according to DON not me) Crime almost doubled. He opened the jail and crmie dropped 60 percent. Hmmm What do you think would ahve been the better choice? Open the jail first. Not hiring 50 officers and opening the jail would have solved this problem even with having officers running in circles.

I'm sure you could find out about the casino if you just did a little bit of research.

Drive a Tahoe across a curb at 40+ mph. Do the same with an Impala. Compare the damage.

honestly ted, i'm not going to waste my time researching a casino
controversy. i simply think flint could use the employment and taxes
a casino would provide. these people in this area need JOBS NOW!

i have to take most everything you say about the mayor with a grain
of salt, because it's obvious you have an axe to grind (based on your writings), also because of the fact it's been stated here you also wished to run for mayor, which would give you even more of a reason to be critical.

now bossman caught me off guard.....

all i can say about my leanings toward the mayor is i'm very tired of
fighting between any flint mayor and everyone else. the fighting gets
old and is certainly unproductive. perhaps too much negativity has stained
this city for too long. perhaps there will never be peace. i don't know.
over the years i have been in different states and i'll be damned, there
was flint on the nightly news with some negative crap. i had one lady
ask me if flint was a "shanty town"!!!! i laughed, then i kinda got pissed.
i do know that as a lifelong citizen of flint it is my duty to do whatever
i can to positively affect those in my town as long as i live here.

i've always given the current administration the benefit of the doubt.
is there room for improvement? sure. i really don't give a damn about
this group and that group, i give a damn about flint. Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool
i wish them the best.

Don't ya just want to grab a few people and try to shake some sense into them sometimes? Starting with the Council & the Mayor's office? HELLO! can you stop fighting long enough to help the ordinary folks out???

LTH, Again, you are at the least consistant at one thing. If I post something that is pure fact. You deny it! Doesn't matter who brings you the news. If it's the truth! It's the Truth. You act as if there is some hidden axe to grind. I've been very open about what my problem is with the Mayor.

Yes it is personal. I gave my support with the promise that HE would make things happen that would make Flint Better! He was going to look out for the tax payers money! He has done everything just the oppisite of what he said he was going to do.

How soon you forget. When he was first elected. The City council was all behind him! Until he started making off the wall and unreasonable demands. Until he started putting unqualified people in high level and paying positions. He started blowing the City coffers on more exspensive equipment from outside sources, instead of supporting Flint business. He Then lost well over a million dollars in grant funds that Flint cannot afford to lose. Which sets us up to lose even more next time around.

He cost the city much needed jobs. Ones you say you support! But, are too busy trying to deflect and defend the Mayor and his stupidity. So WHile you say you think it's a good idea and should be done. You defend the ONE person that stopped it from happening. This could have been up and running by now. But he wanted it built on his property in Mt Morris.

See my biggest problem I guess is that every time he says something. I actually check it out and do some research. Everytime I read something in the Flint journal. I get more information to see if it's the truth. Usually I find it isn't! But sometimes it is.

And yes I do point out whe he does thing good! The problem is those times are so few and far between it would appead that I'm going over board. I wish it was that simple. But, you obviously don't know a thinkg about him. Except what he says to the Flint Journal. They print quotes of what he says. Not what he actually does. Basically if he would have done as he said he was going to. I would be thrilled and singinng his praises.

So to understand you correctly... Because I as a City Watch dog report what is actually happening not what our elected officials say is happening. I'm rarely wrong but have been on minor points that had no bearing on the outcome. I'm usually wrong to my advantage. Giving the more benefit of the doubt to the opposing arguement. Unless someone like yourself gets on here and starts making claims that have no basis in facts. It's just how you feel.

You obviously have no idea where I work! I see this all the time! Esp in the winter. The main difference is the tire height. Thus you will see more damage to wheels on a car. But as far as Spindles and Bearings and Frame and Ball Joints etc. However, driving over curbs isn't considered normal driving and these are not 4WD tahoes.

See that's the point. When they prove their "benefit of the doubt" is "In IN YOUR FACE A FLAT OUT LIE". You still say, I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. Even though he has continually proven he's a complusive liar. I had one lady call me and chastise me for pointing this out because he is a senile old man and just may have altziemers.

At firs tI thought she was kidding, or joking with me. SHe was 100 percent serious. Defending his outbursts of lies as reagans diease. Or that reason he does so much stupid stuff is because he doesn't know or see it as stupid. I mean if a Tahoe costs more to maintain than an impala. There is no one that can look at any of the data anywhere and believe that. And he says it repeatedly. What other excuse can you have. He's either a Liar or menatlly ill. I don't know of any other option? A rational human being with the ability to reason Greater than > or Less Than <. Here maybe you can tell this visually.

Don Says: Tahoe $60,224 < Impala $45,311
The rest of the world (Including Ted Jankowski) Says Impala $45,311 < Tahoe $60,224

For you to give the Mayor the benefit of the Doubt you would have to assume that What he says has some resemblance of truth. Since this is a math equation. We can logically see that 60,224 is really more than 45,311. The is NO DOUBT TO GIVE BENEFIT.

Then there is the Appointment of John Carpenter. Nice guy, Knowledgable about many things. But not qualified to be transportation director. But the mayor appoints him anyway. ??? Nothing to doubt here! He doesn't hold the degree neccessary to fill the position. THere is no arguement there. There is no doubt, but you give him benefit of the Doubt when there is no sliver of doubt that this guy doesn't posses the needed degree.

Then you say you give every human being the benifit of the doubt until proven wrong. But, you argue nonsquentors when I provide mountains of evidence! Never once giving me the benefit of the doubt. Even when I provide more than the neccessary evidence to prove the point. What is it you call someone that does that. Says one thing and does another?

man oh man..you really have this hate thing big time.
don't you understand that calling anyone those types of names
degrades your stock?

what makes you say carpenter isn't qualified to do his job?
necessary degree?? man, i know folks with multiple degrees
who are dumber than a doorknob!! come on now...

and the vehicle thing. sure an impala is cheaper to buy. i wonder
if the police appreciate tahoes more than impalas? i bet they do.
and anyway, the $15,000.00 difference times the amount of new
vehicles purchased ain't gonna break the bank if the police
want them. you may call it fiscally irresponsible but if i was in a
high-speed chase i'd appreciate the extra metal!!!!! i'll bet they do too.

calm down and count to 10.... Cool

If Mr. Carpenter is qualified to do the job then why does mayor/admin (?) want to hire Ayres back on contract basis to assist?

We had heavy snow Wednesday. Thursday roads near impassable in the city. Friday main roads Miller, Court, Corunna, Ballenger, still had snow cover and ruts which cause loss of vehicle control. That loose snow should have been plowed to the side of the main roads and intersections. Today (Saturday) there are still horrible snow ruts on the side streets and intersections, and navigating through that when it it frozen in sub-zero wind chill will be treacherous.

The way this last snowfall has been handled in the city of Flint has me wondering who's in charge, who quit, how many couldn't get in to work or just refused to come in, in protest of what's been going on at city hall. I saw no snow plows or salting trucks until after 5 p.m. on Friday. They may have been out, I just didn't see them. People who came into our office from out of town on Friday said roads weren't bad until they got to Flint!

Carpenter was on the news Thursday morning asking people to get cars off the street, said roads should all be cleared in 72 hours--that's 3 days. So short of 72 hours from his announcement, he sends everybody home at 4 p.m. Saturday. Trucks won't be back out until Monday morning. Meanwhile, residential streets aren't done.
