That link didn't work for me.

but don't mall shootings (or church shootings) that kill a lot of people sort of give equal justification for law abiding citizens to carry concealed weapons so that they can stop a shooter before he can kill more people?

Michigan's Self-Defense Act:
The law allows people to use deadly force, with no duty to retreat, if they reasonably think they face imminent death, great bodily harm or sexual assault. You can use deadly force anywhere you have a legal right to be.
To clarify:
Carjackings, Break-ins and other potentially violent crimes, even those that occur away from your home, you can defend yourself or love ones.
If you are eligible you should consider a CCW permit or some form of home protection. If you don't know a personal trainer we will recommend one for you.

I find it quite telling that the home states of the two Dem front runners New York and Illinois restrict or deny the right of concealed carry for honest citizens. Sort of lets ya know where they are coming from. Rolling Eyes

Barack Obama For Pres?
Not if my vote or voice here has anything to do with it. Obama is one of the most anti-Second Amendment legislators in the country. In his short time in in the Senate he's managed to vote FOR almost every single gun control measure that has come his way. Gun Law News has a round-up of Obama's votes and you'll notice that only in 2006 did he finally vote yea on a gun right -- that of prohibiting firearm confiscations during an emergency -- and that probably because he was trying to "moderate" his position as his name gets bandied about by the liberal loving media.

More than that, this is a guy who doesn't believe that law abiding people have the right to own most handguns but it goes even further than that. According to On the Issues he would:

# Ban the sale or transfer of all forms of semi-automatic weapons.
# Increase state restrictions on the purchase and possession of firearms.

Ban all sales or transfers of any semi-automatic firearm? That's very nearly all of them. We'd be left with some shotguns, bolt-actions, and lever guns.

Now this is important because even ignoring four million NRA members, you have millions more who don't support the NRA but do own semi-automatic guns. Tens of millions if you want to know the truth.

Do any of you Democrats really think these multi-millions of semi-automatic owners would vote for a guy who has stated that their guns should be banned or at least should no longer be sold or transferred? Some gun owner dies of old age and the family has to turn those guns in to the authorities? Someone needs money and can't sell his guns to a gun dealer? Your common .22 plinkers now yanked from store shelves?

I guarantee that there is NO WAY someone who wants to ban all semi-automatics is going to get elected because there is NO WAY for him or her to overcome a voting block of 10-30 million semi-automatic firearms owners.

Hillary Clinton: Socialist Gun-Grabber
by Craig Fields
Director of Internet Operations

It is patently obvious that Hillary Clinton's policies are of a decidely socialist bent -- generally along the European model. America awakened to this truth as a result of the "Hillarycare" debacle during her husband's first term.

Since becoming a Senator from New York, though, she has added big-government gun control to her resume.

There is really little point in detailing Clinton's vote-by-vote record on the Second Amendment. That's because every single time there has been a gun-related vote in the Senate that GOA has tracked, Sen. Clinton has voted anti-gun. Without fail, she opts to restrict the rights of Americans to keep and bear firearms -- 100% of the time.

So, in keeping with the socialist ideals which guide her policies in other areas, she's a dedicated gun-grabber.

But the danger is far greater than that. She doesn't just vote wrong... she is an active leader in the campaign to disarm the citizenry step by step. Thus, it is far more telling to discuss what previous and upcoming restrictive legislation she cosponsors.

Sponsoring bills is the hallmark of the most outspoken anti-gun leaders such as Rep. Carolyn McCarthy and Sen. Chuck Schumer. They constantly come up with new ideas to chip away at the Second Amendment and then write them into legislation. Clinton doesn't do this at all. She's too busy socializing other aspects of American life.

Any legislator can write any bill he or she wants, but getting one passed is (thankfully) another story indeed. That's where cosponsorship comes into play. Telling fellow legislators "Hey, I'm with you on this... put my name on the bill, too" is Sen. Clinton's preferred course of action.

The bottom line legislatively is that bills with large numbers of cosponsors stand a much greater chance of getting committee hearings, then voted out of committee, and finally scheduled for a full vote on the floor of the legislative body. Cosponsorship is important, and it identifies those (in addition to the bill's author) who are leading the charge for its passage. It is so important that the GOA rating of "F-" is reserved solely for sponsors and cosponsors of anti-gun bills -- no legislator can drop that low in any other manner, even with a 0% voting record such as Clinton's.

Hillary Rodham Clinton has truly earned her F- rating. Her record of cosponsoring anti-gun initiatives reads like a Sarah Brady wish list.

Certain businesses in Michigan have posted "No-Guns" signs indicating that persons lawfully licensed to carry concealed firearms are not welcome on their property. Although most businesses in Michigan have chosen not to post discriminatory signs against concealed pistol license holders, some have, and are listed below:

This policy of denying Michigan's most upstanding and law abiding men and women the right to resist a criminal attack while shopping or doing business does not create a safe environment, as only law-abiding citizens will obey their signs. "No-Guns" signs simply mean that criminals have a lot less to worry about and may even be emboldened to commit armed criminal acts in these so-called "gun free environments".

When you see a "No-Guns" signs on a retail store, restaurant, bank, credit union or taxpayer funded business, please let us know so we can warn others to shop or go elsewhere while armed.

that's crazy. Luckily, I don't go to any of those businesses. How do they feel about on or off duty police officers I wonder? If a plain clothes cop comes in and they notice that he has a gun, will they tell him to leave?

Then again, if the weapon is concealed, they shouldn't be able to tell.... unless they pull it on a criminal...

Sorry, but I think if you're a jeweler or a bank, you'd have reason to be suspicious of someone that entered with a gun. And that leads you to treat all your customers with suspicion. For them, it's just good business.
