The city of Flint plans to lay off 33 employees, City Administrator Darryl Buchanan confirmed.

The employees are seasonal and temporary, including some who worked in parks, senior citizen centers and streets. Buchanan said the employees were part of the mayor's efforts to improve the city, but since some goals have been made the city can scale back the number of employees.

"It's unfortunate, but these decisions had to be made," Buchanan said.

Councilman Scott Kincaid said an employee who had been in an administrative meeting, not the administration, told him about the layoffs.

"I think we're in financial trouble," Kincaid said.

heh heh heh..."goals have been made"...yeah, like re-election. The election is over, so we can cut back on efforts to improve the city.

Speaking of financial trouble, where's that damn audit?

Many more layoffs will come. Bob Misekow is gone. Not that he did anything for the 90k he was making yearly. Now he ( don) is trying to get Bill Ayre 75k for consulting to sit on his arse in Florida.

State takeover once again by next year!

Sam Muma is the King of the city! Thanks for keeping our members employed!

Is Muma's Wife still working at the City??? Also, I ehard all the pastor's kids have been laid off... Hmmm. If those were seasonal... WHy didn't they get laid off and rehired every year?
"goals have been made"... Running the city into debt.

Muma's wife was made permanent via a handshake deal with the HR dept., Sam and the Don. Job was never posted and created especially for her.
Wonder how Sam likes his new fat raise to $35 per hour!

Most of the Pastor kids were let go, and yes Randolph is still employed. More layoffs took place today in DPW... More to come...
