How fitting is this:

Jay Leno is taking his show back to the air while his writers are on strike, crossing the picket line to do it.

And who may you ask is going to be his "big guest" in this scab fest? You guessed it, Media Lovechild Mike Huckabee... *sigh*

The only thing more fitting than this is Jays big sponsor in this evenings "giant middle finger to American Unions" is none other than....

....drumroll.......

General Motors

Outrageous! I will never watch Jay Leno again. Remember how he made a big deal a few months ago of passing out doughnuts to the strikers and vowing his support? ... Krispy Kremes my eye!

C'mon, guys, Huckabee showed the anti-Romey commercial he decided to pull at the last minute. Today he just learned he'd have to cross a picket line to go on the Leno show--so don't be surprised to see him pull a last-minute about face here, too. Laughing

Gosh!!

I just do know who to believe. I saw here the Ron Paul posters were justly pointing out the poor choice of Hucklebuck to cross a union picket line.

We Flintoids owe our life blood to the union movement.

I was sure that Ron Paul was the one because of his most excellent poster babes. Laughing

Then look what I found! Just look! I am dashed and befuddled . Say it aint so babes say it aint so ... Crying or Very sad

Who’s sticking up for striking writers? Not presidential candidate Ron Paul , the Republican congressman from Texas. Twisted Evil

This year, Ron Paul voted against the Employee Free Choice Act, which would make it easier for workers to exercise their freedom to form a union. Evil or Very Mad

Congressman Ron Paul First Presidential Candidate To Cross Writers’ Picket Line - 12/05/07 Rolling Eyes
Jesse Russell

Congressman Ron Paul became the first Presidential candidate to cross the picket line of striking Hollywood writers.

The Republican candidate for the 2008 nomination crossed the line so he could appear on ABC show "The View".

The writers are into the third week of their strike.

Michelle Obama, the wife of Democratic nominee, Barack Obama, had been scheduled to guest host on December 5, but canceled her appearance in order to respect the striking workers.

Both John and Elizabeth Edwards have also canceled their scheduled appearances. Shocked

Paul just demonstrated that he's as clueless as the rest of his Republican buddies.

There's a reason fifty-two percent of Americans say the economy and health care are the most important issues to them in choosing a president.

It's because they're struggling to make ends meet on their wages; meanwhile, employer provided health care continues to go by the wayside.

Unions fight for a middle class way of life and so do most Democrats.

Republicans?

They cross picket lines and vote against acts that make it easier for workers to form a union. Evil or Very Mad

Neo-Nazis Say: Ron Paul is One of Us Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

Take this one with a grain of salt, please.
But at one of the ugliest neo-Nazi sites on the web, Vanguard News Network, the leader of the American National Socialist Workers Party says Ron Paul Lies About Lack Of Involvement With White Nationalists.
http://littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/?entry=28341_Neo-Nazis_Say-_Ron_Paul_is_One_of_Us&only

Yes LT it is slanted. I am flushing out trolls. My guess is the Ron Paul game plan is to use their young smart discussion board trolls to create a campaign presence for their dude. Not bad,not fooled, Pauls as fringe as a drunk 70 yr old cowboys crap stained coat.

Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

This has been hammered to death since the 5th of December... As knee jerk pandering, several candidates (read Democrats) canceled their View appearance, even though they don't use writers and are separated from the writer's strike... Two of the view's hosts are in the S.A.G. and IN the Writer's Guild and are still appearing on the show daily.

As to the bill Dr. No voted against, It was voted against because it on the surface allowed "Free Choice" for the workin' man, however when one actually read the meat of the bill was fairly flawed and took Freedom away from workers...

I would get into it, but the opposing view on wiki says it best:

quote:
Critics contend union administered elections, with a lack of Federal oversight, will lead to coercion on the part of union organizers.[3] Opponents of the EFCA also assert that the measure would not protect employee privacy. Representative John Kline (R-MN) has stated:
“ It is beyond me how one can possibly claim that a system whereby everyone – your employer, your union organizer, and your co-workers – knows exactly how you vote on the issue of unionization gives an employee 'free choice . . . . It seems pretty clear to me that the only way to ensure that a worker is 'free to choose' is to ensure that there's a private ballot, so that no one knows how you voted. I cannot fathom how we were about to sit there today and debate a proposal to take away a worker's democratic right to vote in a secret-ballot election and call it 'Employee Free Choice.'[4] ”

The bill's detractors also oppose the mandatory arbitration of disputes involving the terms of a first contract, asserting that such a procedure could constitute an improper intrusion of government into private business affairs[5] and harmful for competitiveness and innovation.[6] Opponents of the bill have also suggested that the arbitration mandate could lead to management resorting to offensive lockouts as a means to pressure unions and employees into accepting company proposals before the deadline for arbitration.[7]

Opponents also point to a 2001 letter to Mexican government officials, signed by 11 Democrats who subsequently voted in favor of H.R.800, encouraging the "use of secret ballots in all union recognition elections." The letter further states, "we feel that the secret ballot is absolutely necessary in order to ensure that workers are not intimidated into voting for a union they might not otherwise choose," seeming to contradict the spirit of the legislation passed by the House. Congressman George Miller was the lead signatory of the 2001 letter and the sponsor of H.R.800. However, Rep. Miller and the other signatories to the 2001 letter now contend that their demand for a secret ballot election was limited to situations where "workers seek to replace one union with another union," although the letter makes no mention of this case and instead states "all union recognition elections."[8]

With Dr. Ron Paul's Libertarian believes that he stands behind, this bill not only interferes with an individual worker having a secret vote in such processes, and it also almost mandates government interference in business deals between employer and union.

As a supporter of the union, I would also have voted against this bill on the MEAT of the bill... The spirit of the bill was honorable, but much like everything else in Washington, you cannot judge a bill by it's fancy Media-friendly name....

I won't even waste you time or mine acknowledging the nazi reference. It has been done to death. Yes White supremacists, white separatists, survivalists, 2nd amendment nuts, etc all support Small federal government and a constitutional government. If I ran for president, they would support me and my views on the government.

Because he supports small federal government and a true Constitutional Federal government does NOT mean he is a White Nationalist, and if you read more than just the first paragraph (the links included) in the link you provided, you would see that.

New York? Think

I spend quite a bit of time thinking about midgets with purple suspenders dancing outside my bathroom window too, (don't ask, I'm seeking help) but that surely doesn't mean I want them to run my country.

Well, I watched him and he was funnier than Leno! On the serious side, he talked about the ad he pulled, his tax ideas, the triple-wide trailer he lived in, the hundred-plus pounds he lost...yada yada. I enjoyed it but he still won't get my vote. Laughing

Key point to note: ****non-writing staff would not lose their jobs.*****

There are more people than the writers at stake: the restaurant workers, the accountants, budget personnel, gaffs, etc. The shows are keeping it going so the writers can have a job to come back to. Yes there are people that are members of the SAG that are crossing the line, as a lot of them are NOT full time actors, the people that you see on the television are the ones taking the brunt because you can see them......there are hundreds that are crossing the lines everyday.

Wow a lot of good those unions are doing for us right now. We are teetering on life support here in Flint. A big part of that is due to the unions getting rediculous wages for work that requires minimal skills.

I am not removing the blame from GM and corporate greed here but I am not sure I would pay $30 an hour for some barely high school educated person to bolt on fenders all day.

The unions started out with great intentions but they got too greedy as well.

I am a member of the UAW but not by choice, if I didn't pay my 5 bucks a week I would be out of a job because somehow my desk job for the State is part of a union for Auto Workers all of which make a lot more money than me and most of them claim that I am over paid with my two college degrees.
