Thanks, Dave - it's definitely worth a try. It might turn out better than when we (Cable Producers Association) last came in to his office a few Wednesdays ago. He denies Flint ever got a universal franchise agreement from Comcast. I think I believe him on this one! |

well mark. you must remember (and i saw it) how bad your buddy
p. herring slammed the mayor during a council meeting. this is back
to the honey and vinegar thing. for whatever reason, you guys slam,
slam and slam......until you need him. not very smart!!! |

Last time here,
I don’t think that I’m “slamming” him at all. And when was it I needed him? Except for the past 4 years, to rally behind my sewage backup, that is?
I agree with you - it’s not smart to slam someone you need. Paul sometimes speaks before he thinks. But if it weren’t for Paul, the city council wouldn’t be getting their mugs on TV every other week, or however frequent the meetings are aired. We’ve (Flint public access) given Williamson some really good air time over the years on our modulator, for local government programming.
Do you ever come down to City Hall to voice your opinion?

Every day we've had some snow, my part of downtown was not plowed at all, even though the outer county roads were.
Sorry, can't give credit for what I see as a failure. |

We've only had one day where it snowed enough to require plowing. |

Sorry, I guess I should have said plowing AND salt. Neither have happened anywhere in my part of Flint. Once more today the country roads were good and downtown is covered in snow.
Last week you could barely even make the turn on I-475, and that's AFTER a whole day of work when plowing could and should have been done. |

If you are talking about the last "heaviest" snowfall we got, yes, it took a long time to get Miller, Corunna and Court Streets plowed--I wondered where the plows or salt were. Are you talking about today? Yesterday all the streets were clear thanks to temperature in the 40's. Winds kicked up, temperature dropped back into the 20's and today (Monday) we have a little snow being blown around but not enough to plow. Cold winds will make the roads glaze over though. Trucks should be out with salt on the main roads. But maybe they've all got the holiday off until Wednesday, so if they come in they'd get holiday pay?? |

Last Sunday the plows were going down ML King at 8:45am, which surprised me. Under previous administrations, nothing was plowed until at least 8" of snow accumulated. There were years when side streets were not plowed under any circumstances. |

I have to agree with omgasmurf and demeralda on this one. Even busy Corunna Rd wasn't salted or plowed (or at least you couldn't tell it) long after the snow stopped. Of course, I'll take the city's budget and the way it's spent into consideration. When I do that, it makes sense.

This thread is about roads being paved, not snow plowing!

Well, let's see, in one phone book:
Streets Division:
Snow Removal............766-7435
Street Cleaning...........766-7435
Street Maintenance......766-7343
I don't see any listing for Street Paving, Ryan, would that come under Street Maintenance or under the Mayor's Office? |

No, this thread was a big thank you for all the "accomplishments." I felt required to point out that there are other things to consider besides road paving. <shrug> |
