I won't quibble whether school should or should not have been cancelled today. I'm a SAHM and it makes little difference to me (although my daughter loved sleeping til 11!), but couldn't a decision have been made last night? It isn't like the storm occured while we were sleeping! Give working mothers time to find a sitter, don't dump the school closing on them at 6 AM. That's irresponsible.

Linda Thompson lost a lot of credibility in my eyes.

I'm not sure what time the decision was made this morning but parents should have guessed yesterday the schools might be closed today and made backup plans anyway. ABC12 this morning reported that City is requesting vehicles be moved off the streets and be parked in drives. At lunch time there are cars parked in the street on both sides of my house. Shoveled my drive last night but had trouble navigating around car next to my drive to get in at lunch time. It will be worse after plows go by. Grrrrrrrrr!!!

We did anticipate---when 120 school districts were closed by the time the 11 o'clock news came on, we anticipated that Flint schools had opted to open. It is not the job of parents to read the minds of school administration. Make an announcement! Call it "school" or "no school". Just don't leave the parents (and kids) hanging.

I don't know why Flint schools wait so long. By 9pm, every district around here had announced they were closed.

Kearsley did the same thing, only they are worse: they don't make the decision until 6 am the morning of.

That is RIDICULOUS for people who are working.

Heard on the radio that south of here one city declared a snow emergency and will ticket those vehicles not moved -- $35 ticket! Flint should have done that, too, but even the main roads, Miller, Corunna, Court, weren't plowed by noon. Must be the workers couldn't get into town! Laughing

When we were going to Church yesterday morning at 8:45, we followed 2 plows down ML King, from Dayton to 5th Ave.

I dont see what the problem is. When we were kids we walked 8mi to school 7days a week up hill both ways thru 4ft snowdrifts and never complained. Confused

See one more plus for Homeschooling. Laughing Laughing
