Bet the council votes no. If they do, it'll show that all their talk about cooperation was just that; talk.

I really don't understand why these jobs pay so well. $97,000 is a little out of step with area economics.

I'm guessing that's the salary range for other cities of this size, regardless of area economics.

The plan is probably for Teflon Don to ask CC to approve his appointment. If they refuse he will make a temporary appointment and that's the way it will stay for four years.

you would think council would eventually start playing the game of
allowing the city to continue prospering. this idiocy has lasted long
enough. i've watched time and time again those council meetings
when mr.ayre (sp) would try to get them to pass a certain resolution.
some of them never come prepared and it looks as though they
are reading this stuff for the very first time. whomever the council
president is should get them the necessary resolutions PRIOR
to meetings and instruct them TO READ THEM BEFORE THE MEETINGS
so they don't look like imbeciles. as it is now, they've been rendered
toothless and i might add embarrassing... Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

That's a lot of the reason Ayre quit.I guess what's good for the people of Flint isn't the Council's concern. Petty politics is MUCH more important.

When I was on council, we had our packets at the very latest the friday before the meeting. Most of the time it was the Thursday before. Whether the councilperson chooses to actually read it (which seems to be the case for at least 2 of the current folks) is another issue. It's joke that these folks are making major decisions with no information.....

And Buchanan plans to vote on his own appointment. What a maroon.

well FC..that could be looked at a couple different ways.
1. a councilperson voting for himself.
2. a councilperson voting for a city administrator.

ananich quietly quit leading the finance committee and stated
me may very well give buchanan his vote. thank goodness he
appears to be listening to his constituants!!!! Razz Razz Razz Razz
good move ananich!!

Councilperson Carolyn Sims voted for herself to be Council President. What's the difference, FC? Shouldn't Buchanan have the same opportunity to vote for himself? Which is worse, being one of nine to vote oneself into the position as president of the same body, or being one of a body of nine to approve an already appointed position outside that body? Which is less or more self-serving? Reasonable minds can expect Buchanan to vote for himself as Sims voted for herself, despite any difference or similarity.
