Has there been a final appointment to the 30 particpants in the school closing committee? Have they met. I plan to post Linda Thompsons hand outs. Are they digital?

The meeting is this Monday (tomorrow) at Sarvis. I'll try and give a report as long as I remember to go. I'm pretty biased so hopefully someone else can give a more unbiased report. I'm doubtful any of my ideas will be incorporated but you never know. I wish we had better leadership in Flint so we could have more options on the table but we should still be able to make improvements. |

oh-oh. the abortion topic..
it is my opinion that as a man, i have no right to tell a woman
what to do with her right to govern her body.
and away we go!! |

I believe that abortion is the taking of a human life, but it's not for me to tell someone else what to do.
Do NOT label me pro-choice!!! I HATE labels! |

To Adam: A doctor can live and breathe on his own. What can a rice krispy-sized mass of tissue do? Sorry, no go.
To LT: Correct answer, thank you
It's no one's business to tell me if I have to carry a baby or not. My body, my decision. The rice krispy can't live without me, so it's not a life.
And I will get angry about this subject, so I should bow out now. If men had to carry babies, there would be many more abortions than there are now! |

There is no more personal decision than whether to have a baby or not. It's no one's business---nor is it anyone's business how any of us feel about it personally. I don't know what it is about pregnancy that makes so many people believe that an unborn child is community property. It is amptly demonstrated by the number of people who feel it is permissable to fondle the abdomen of a pregnant woman. |

Somehow you manage to put things so much more succinctly than I, Deena. Thanks! Much better response than mine. |

The schools meeting went well. The process will probably take about a year. Today was mainly an introductory meeting. My suggestion was to have a school board president/member on our committee so we don't have our suggestions ignored like with the last group. There are 20 people on our committee and 10 other people will be chosen from places like the land bank etc. |

You could also say the same thing for when a child gets abused. It's the community that steps in. If a child is not community property then why should we care if a child gets abused/educated etc? If an unborn child is a human being than maybe we should protect the child. |

adam, i hear you but!!!! how can we as men expect to have the right
to tell a woman what to do with her body and what it produces?
actually, in as much as we (men) produce sperm, it could be said that
every time we pleasure ourselves, we are terminating the process of
life. if that was made a federal mandate, would you stop ? |

You have the same logic problem now as before, Adam: I do not acknowledge that a grain-size blob of blood is a human life. It cannot live on its own. |

I'm trying very hard to keep my mouth shut. Very emotional topic. And ultimately, like most topics, I'm not going to change anyone's opinion; nor will they change mine. |

i wonder if the question of "when does a soul enter a body" will have any merit toward this discussion? |

Sure, if you believe in a soul.
I don't believe the rice krispy does. |
