Topic: PREDICTION FOR MAYOR OF FLINT

OK, everyone has given us their commentaries about who should win or loose the mayors race. I want percentage predictions for the race. NO COMMENTS, that can be debated starting Wednesday morning again....JUST PLAIN NUMBERS.
In a mild upset, here is my prediction

WALLING 49.8%
WILLIAMSON 49.3%
OTHER 00.9%

To be decided by less then 25 votes, Williamson cries foul, demands a recount....ends up suing the city and costing you tax payers millions in the end!

Walling will get between 55 and 60% of the vote. Williamson between 40 and 45%.

I should add that I did quite a bit of door-to-door for Dale Weighill in the primary, so my prediction is based on talking with a fair number of voters prior to August 6. There are many people who are unhappy with the Mayor's leadership style, etc. I think this was reflected in the primary election results where Williamson (the well known incumbent) received only 33% of votes cast. I believe Walling will be able to tap this discontent tomorrow.

If I am right, let me just say that the residents of the City of Flint will get what they deserve...unfortunately the rest of us in the county will have to suffer for it.

Dont forget even though both candidates are democrats only one has the party behind him. Hanging chads, manipulating ballots, attempting to get thrown out absentee military ballots, votes from the grave, nonexistent voters, leaving precincts open well past legal voting hours, giving homeless packs of cigarettes to go vote all trademarks of the last two presidential elections (which they lost by the way) Laughing . Who knows what sort of trickery they will attempt in Flints little mayoral election. I wouldnt count out this Walling fellow quite yet. Laughing Laughing

You can spin the primary results all you like, but any political professional (people who run campaigns for a living) will tell you that an incumbent who receives less than 50% of the vote in a primary is in trouble for the general election. Williamson received 33% in the primary and he has 100% name id -- not a good sign. Either you love him or you hate him, and based on the door-to-door campaigning I did during the primary, most people want him gone.

I stand by my prediction that Walling wins with 55-60% of the vote (that includes solid majorities in the 4th, 7th, 8th, and 9th wards).
