Wasn't Women's Hospital on 5th Avenue, possibly in the federation of the blind area? I can remember signs on Ballenger, just North of Beecher Rd: "Site of New Flint Women's Hospital". I think the name was changed to McLaren before it opened.
I think that was the old FOH. My grandmother used to work there as a nurse.
You're right. |

For Tegan and Kay: Perhaps later this winter you and your husbands might want to come visit my home for dinner. I live in the city, in the College Cultural area. A visit---and a chat with my husband, a native of a small Canadian town, might enlighten those men to the advantages and safety of city living.
And while you're visiting, I'll invite you to chat with my very erudite 13 year old daughter, a product of two very fine Flint Public Schools. We LEFT Grand Blanc after kindergarten because we believed our child needed a more diverse, less materialistic environment. We have never regretted our decision. |

Why would you believe that? I am sure she would have received the same all the left all the time education in GB as I am sure she got in Flint schools and in much safer surroundings.

We believe that because we want more for our daughter than a burning desire for Ugg boots for Christmas. |

Well that splains that. No ugg boats in Flint. If you were really looking for a diverse and non materialistic area to move to why not the north end.

Oh my, you altered your post.
I can address this issue also. Are you aware that Grand Blanc has eliminated its academically talented education program? Flint, on the other hand, has introduced an academy specifically for high achieving students. I'd place that school up against any suburban school anywhere. |

We wanted a DIVERSE environment. The north end of Flint is no more diverse than Grand Blanc. Different, but no less diverse. |

Well ya learn something new everday. I had no idea that Flint schools were so high on the academic list, why ill bet folks will be falling all over themselves to move back just for the educational opportunies avaliable. By the way my daughterinlaw while getting her teaching degree was forced to spend some time in Flint schools she has a much different take on what actually transpires in the class rooms. |

One more thing. If the composition and clarity of this writing is an example of the fine job of education accomplished outside the city, I'm doubly glad we opted for Flint. |

I thought we were talking Public schools? This sounds an awful lot like a private or charter school.
