VW is moving its North American headquarters to Virginia.
Surprise....surprise!!
VW America CEO Stefen Jacoby has decided to move its operation from Michigan to the eastcoast so it can attract a "skilled young" work force and get closer to its customers.
An unreal total of another 1600 Michigan jobs lost.
Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson said it best when he claims Michigan Gov. Granholm is a "day late and a dollar short" in trying to keep VW in Michigan. "He (Jacoby) is leaving and taking a thousand jobs with him."
"You want to work in an environment where you see your customers, where you see your cars on the road," Jacoby said. "You don't want to work where you basically see American cars of the Big Three."

You would think that Michigan would realize that by now!

| I work there. They are actually cutting a total of 400 positions and moving 400 to Virginia (so a loss of 800 total); 600 will stay behind in Auburn Hills. Still, that is a lot to lose. I will find out in the next week or so whether or not I get to keep bringing Auburn Hills money to Flint! |
