Can anyone explain the purpose of the concrete retaining walls along I-69 near Saginaw Street?

A strategically planned beautification attempt around election time to sway voters toward Williamson. I'm sure they were Federal dollars.

They do look nice. I'll admit that. I wonder what else the money could have been used for? I wonder how long before some thug tags them with spray paint.

The Nazi's used the same in World War II as bunkers to fend off invaders. Perhaps Flint is preparing for the worse.

Just a joke so take it as such!

So...............I guess no one really knows what the damn things are supposed to be used for?

I agree with many of the responses, especially the thought that the grafitti artists will adorn them eventually.

Perhaps a telephone call to The Don could solve the mystery?

It is actually something Joe Conroy worked out with MDOT and designed by Rowe Engineering. Ruth Mott may have provided the match. At first the bunkers looked like flower beds but I see that two of them now have large flood lights on them. Along the service drive will be minature arches at each corner. Whos going to maintain this when they can't maintain the parks?
