Genesee County Democratic Party Chairperson Ronald Duncan asked that I serve as Membership Chairperson of the County Party.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Democraticmembership/

My approach.

1.Everyone is invited to be a member of the Genesee County Membership Committee.
2.Our principal form of communication will be this egroup.
3.June 1st kick off with the 2007 membership drive to conclude Labor Day Weekend.
4.Our meetings will be at on site membership solicitation events or activities.
5. Duncan and others will focus on retaining all current members I will focus elsewhere.

Lets call this meeting to order!

WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST AS THE MOST WE CAN DO TO PROMOTE DEMOCRATIC PARTY MEMBERSHIP? When,where,why,how,who...

The floor is open for your suggestions!
Will you accept the position of honorary co chairperson. You will be asked to do no more than what you volunteer to do.
My plan is to recruit honorary co-chairs with a goal of at least you and

The following was in response to my post on Flint Talk. I cros post to prime the pump of discussion. The environment is not a politically correct one. To be legitimate questions must be answered. This environment is the future. I am just making up a template a I go along.-trb

How about tort reform being the a topic of discussion? You might actually get some Republicans to join.

Re: Genesee County Democrats by trbankert, 5/31/07
I am a family law attorney. All I know is that there has been some measure of tort reform, there is a shake out in the field, many PI attorneys have returned to family law, how much more reform is needed and why? I will research more tomorrow?

Re: Genesee County Democrats by trbankert, 5/31/07
First thing you do Terry is tell the honchos at UAW 1C to take a flying leap. Anything that involves the UAW and Genesee Couty Democratic Party politics is TAINTED. While you are at it Terry , tell them to WITHHOLD ALL UAW endorsements of Genesee County political candidates and let the people decide without their minds being filled with hatred of ANY political candidate that doesn't share views with the UAW. Won't happen will it?
The faster the UAW quits puppetering the politcal process in Genesee County the better off EVERTONE will Be. After All, there are so many good UAW jobs around anymore people have to pick which line to stand it? LMAO!

11007.2.1. Wrong but I understand where you are coming from by 1. trbankert, 5/31/07 11:05 ET
Re: Genesee County Democrats by trbankert, 5/31/07
The answer is to grow a stronger local party, more activist involved in the political process. The assumption need not be that labor voluntarily become weaker. The answer is that we increase the base of activist and level of public debate on issues. Independence is found through information and action. Your answer is to plug our ears and put our head in the sand.
I promote growing the number of political activist and the sound level of political debate.
thanks for the suggestion

AN APPEAL FOR ACTION FROM AN ACTIVE DEMOCRAT!-Jack Minore

I'm forwarding an important e-mail from the Sierra Club on an issue
about which I feel very strongly. As a Board Member of the Flint
River Watershed Coalition -- and, as it's former director; I learned
a great deal about water pollution and the danger it can bring to our
health, our drinking water, recreation -- and the environment in
general.

Factory farms have multiplied in Michigan in recent years in part
because of the paucity of regulations in this state. In spite of
that, there is a move to lessen the regulations that we do have.
These bills represent a clear danger to the surface waters -- i.e.
all the streams, rivers and most lakes -- in the state.

To date, Senator John Gleason has shown a great deal of sympathy for
this important environmental issue -- even inviting an opponent and
expert on the issue to testify against the proposed bills that would
lessen the regulation -- and increase (almost certainly) pollution.

A key vote is coming up; and Senator Gleason's vote is critical.
Please take a few moments to contact Sen Gleason; express
appreciation for his stand so far -- and encourage him to hold fast
in opposition to the package of bills -- as outlined in the Sierra
Club e-mail.

Thanks for your consideration !!!

Dear Sierra Club Members and Friends in Senate District 27,

We are in the middle of a big battle to keep a bad package of bills
(SB 501-504) from passing out of the Senate Agriculture Committee.
This legislation would:

1. Deregulate the polluting animal factory industry by exempting them
from required pollution discharge permits

2. Legalize the discharge of animal sewage from animal factories into
local waterways

3. Punish citizens who call in complaints against animal factories by
making them pay the state's inspection costs.
Your Senator, John Gleason, is a key member of this committee – he's
one of 2 democrats that we absolutely MUST have on our side. I could
really use your help to ensure that he stays with us! Dozens of
Sierra Club members and friends have helped us lobby at the Capitol
on this issue and have testified at hearings. Now, as one of Sen.
Gleason's constituents, I need YOUR help! Here's what to do:

Please call or send a brief email to Senator Gleason acknowledging
his efforts and his position on animal factories. Here are some
things you could mention in your call or email:

Let Senator Gleason know that you appreciate his opposition of the
package of bills that deregulate animal factories. Urge him to
continue his opposition to any bill that would weaken regulations
governing animal factories.

Let him know you know that he's fighting to protect the environment.
Thank him for his support of environmental protection and better
regulation of animal factories.

Ask him to urge the committee to hold a hearing on SB 444, which
would impose a moratorium on new and expanding animal factories until
this polluting industry can be brought under control.

Just let Sen. Gleason know you're a grateful constituent and ask to
be kept informed about his efforts on this issue. If you call, you
will probably not get to talk to the Senator. Just leave a message on
his voice mail or with an aide. He'll get the message!

Send an Email to John Gleason or Call Sen. Gleason at (517) 373-0142
or toll free at (866) 268-2914
(senjgleason@senate.michigan.gov)

If you're wondering if this kind of outreach to a legislator really
works – the answer is YES!!! Recognition from his constituents for
doing the RIGHT thing strengthens his resolve not to give in to
others who are pushing him to do the WRONG thing.

Thank you very much for your help!!!

Please let me know when you contact the Senator.

Thanks again!!!!

"Flyers were handed out at the market. The rest may be rained out. What can you do to help?"

Terry, here is some advice.

To ensure a sturdy "joint" of those "joining". Make sure all surfaces are clean and free of debris, oil, etc. Make sure there is a good bearing surface of the things to be joined...for instance, Ryan Eashoo and your party/commitee.

Then, use a good strong adhesive;

I'd suggest a two-part epoxy, or a contact cement. If the latter, I've had best results if you apply it both surfaces to be joined, and let them sit for approx. 15 minutes. Then when you place them together, be careful, they affix almost immediately and completely. You will have little opportunity for adjustment.

If you like I can send you some adhesive to help in your joining efforts.

J'en the cavalry!

Biggie9 we cannot join with everyone for instance my mixing with Adam
http://www.flinttalk.com/post-12623.html#12623
is like mixing oil drilling and water.

An example was shown today when Michigan Democratic Party Chair Mark Brewer

http://www.michigandems.com/053007prs.html

criticized Republican Representative Tim Walberg for his comments supporting oil drilling in the Great Lakes. Walberg told a group of Lansing area constituents on Friday “ I don’t understand” why the United States does not drill the Great Lakes.

“Tim Walberg’s support for oil drilling in the Great Lakes threatens Michigan’s most precious resource,” said Brewer. “The oil drilling that Walberg supports would endanger our coastline, our fishing, our drinking water and damage an important industry to our economy.

This is just another example of how out-of-touch Walberg is with voters in Michigan’s 7th Congressional District.”
Walberg said:

“I don’t know how many of you realize that here in this state in the United States, we do not allow even the slant directional drilling under the Great Lakes... Our environmental lobby has done so well in lobbying efforts from keeping us from doing that, that we don’t drill in ANWR, we don’t drill under the Great Lakes... I don’t understand that.”

“So I say let’s get away from being held by the markets so tightly on petroleum sources… unless we are willing to use what we have and provide competition to the world market because we can say to OPEC then ‘to hell with them’ we got our own Alaskan oil, we have our own Great Lakes oil and we got our own intercontinental shelf oil... That’s how I look at it.”

According to Public Interest Research Group In Michigan, oil drilling in the Great Lakes “would have significant long-term and short-term negative impacts on the lake's watershed, regardless of the drilling method employed.”

Their analysis demonstrates oil drilling in the Great Lakes has potential negative impacts on human health, the environment and Michigan’s economy.

I should thank you if this response was simply a gratitious manipulation to promote the party line and attract new members
