Topic: School Board Elections

Of all the votes you will ever cast, voting for a school board candidate will carry more weight then any vote you will ever submit. In Flint, only a few thousand people ever vote for School Board Candidates, yet, the status of the school system directly influences the degree to which families are likley to move into the school district. The status of the school system in your town has a direct correlation on your property values as a home owner.

I would wish that all civic minded individuals would take the time to vote for all elections. But if you really want to make a difference on the local level, cast a vote at your school board election.

Flint Community Schools Board Election: May 8.

The Flint Community Schools set the STANDARD in the 1930's in America. Throughout the decades our schools were the envy of the nation. When Frank Manley opened them up to after school programs, things REALLY took off for the kids, parents, and the community alike.

It will take nothing short of an election revolution with the most passionate and competent persons sitting on that Board to make history again.

Bring back Community Schools!
Bring back Community School Directors!

God bless Frank Manley and C.S. Mott.

If flint ever needed people like them again, now would be a good time.

It doesn't seem like we are following Manley's plans. Why? I assume Flint's governor Crapo must have been a decent leader as well. If it hadn't been for him there would be no general motors.

What can we do to increase voter turn out in this election?

What can we do to increase Citizen awareness about the Flint School Board candidates?

By the way everybody in Flint should be at the Next meeting of the Flint Board of Education and ask Milton and Cleaves.

What the hell is going on?

I think the next meeting is Wed 4/4/07 7 pm at Sarvis Center next to Whiting Auditorium off Robert T, Longway.
4/3/07

Double check date and time.

I will be late if there at all. Consider posting your report of the meeting here on Flint Talk!

Your thoughts

This is a rough draft- date and time are correct. Update later.
At least two candidates have dropped out, some have been slow to confirm.

Panels will be held in two sessions- 1 & 2 year candidates and 4 year candidates or visa versa. Likely broadcast on Ch. 17. Watch for viewing dates.
