Flinthistory.com is pleased to announce the release of a vintage 1980's Flint Carriage Town promotional video.

http://www.flinthistory.com/features/theater/index.shtml?carriage

Notable moments:

1. Crack... a bible

2. Mark Davis of GEAR stating "Carriage Town houses are going to make the highest return on their investment than anywhere else in the county. Is it a bit of a hassle somedays? Yes. You gotta be a bit braver. You gotta have more gumption, but you're gonna make money!"

3. The heavy breathing.

A classic time capsule of Flint before Roger & Me .

Nice video, but are you sure this is from the mid-80's? Additional footage was provided by Spectacle Productions (presumably the Common Ground footage). Their website says they've only been around since 1991.

Larry,

We did NOT make this video -- I was a teenager in the 80's! We have a treasure trove of Flint videos from a variety of sources here:

I had no idea Spectacle Productions was still in business. That was a shocker. Most of the time I get these videos or stuff and try to track down the original authors and they are long gone.

I'll ask around to find out when this Carriage Town Video was made.

Best thing about Carriage Town now is Good Beans Cafe!

Excellent stuff. Funny thing about history though, it doesn't stop.

Actually, the Carriagetown video was produced in 1991 by the KEVA Parnership, then headquartered in Carriagetown, now defunct. I am the "KE" in KEVA and being that it has only been 15 years since I copyrighted it, I'm fairly certain it is NOT in the public domain. It was fun to see it again however!

Ken please contact me ASAP. I called Spectacle Productions to get information on this film and they never called back. I respect intellectual property and copyrights

That tornado video got to me. My folks lost everything they had in that tornado. I was 2 at the time and were out in Millington visiting friends. Mom says he will never forget coming home to see all the police cars and ambulances and her house gone, her neighbors dead. She was very sick so dad took her to the hospital where there were bodies lined up everywhere. She was so frightened of storms after that.
