We seem to have pursued a lot of liberal strategies in Flint since Republicans lost control. Which of these strategies do you guys find most successful? Do you think Giuliani's highly conservative strategies for turning around NYC were ill-founded? NYC which was run into the ground under liberal leadership and was clearly turned around by conservative strategies. Do you have any examples of any cities moving forward through liberal strategies?

I know community meetings, an ombudsman, victims advocacy and other liberal strategies make people feel good and feel like they are really making a difference but I don't see these as a substitute for good conservative government. A government that fails to protect us from things like home businesses.

Here is a perfect example of screwed up liberal thinking.

And so it begins. Where did this woman come from and where was she
educated?

And now she is Speaker of the House!! Obviously, this woman has a very
limited knowledge of economics! (AND) -- She is very scary

Nancy Pelosi condemned the new record highs of the stock market as
"just another example of Bush policies helping the rich get richer". "First
Bush cut taxes for the rich and the economy has rebounded with new
record low unemployment rates, which only means wealthy employers are
getting even wealthier at the expense of the underpaid working class".

She went on to say "Despite the billions of dollars being spent in
Iraq our economy is still strong and government tax revenues are at all time
highs. "What this really means is" that business is exploiting the war
effort and working Americans, just to put money in their own pockets".

When questioned about recent stock market highs she responded "Only
the rich benefit from these record highs. Working Americans, welfare
recipients, the unemployed and minorities are not sharing in these
obscene record highs". "There is no question these windfall profits and
income created by the Bush administration need to be taxed at 100% rate
and those dollars redistributed to the poor and working class."

"Profits from the stock market do not reward the hard work of our
working class who, by their hard work, are responsible for generating these
corporate profits that create stock market profits for the rich. We in
congress will need to address this issue to either tax these profits or
to control the stock market to prevent this unearned income to flow to
the rich".

When asked about the fact that over 80% of all Americans have
investments in mutual funds, retirement funds, 401K's, and the stock market she replied "That may be true, but probably only 5% account for 90% of all
these investment dollars. That's just more "trickle down" economics
claiming that if a corporation is successful that everyone from the CEO
to the floor sweeper benefit from higher wages and job security which is
ridiculous". How much of this "trickle down" ever get to the unemployed
and minorities in our county? None, and that's the tragedy of these
stock market highs."

"We democrats are going to address this issue after the election when
we take control of the congress. We will return to the 60% to 80% tax rates
on the rich and we will be able to take at least 30% of all current
lower Federal Income Tax taxpayers off the roles and increase government
income substantially. We need to work toward the goal of equalizing
income in our country and at the same time limiting the amount the rich
can invest."

When asked how these new tax dollars would be spent, she replied "We
need to raise the standard of living of our poor, unemployed and minorities.
For example, we have an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in our
country who need our help along with millions of unemployed minorities.
Stock market windfall profits taxes could go a long ways to guarantee
these people the standard of living they would like to have as
"Americans".

truly frighteneing.

This may be the country's closest brush with out-right socialism. More freebies for people who haven't earned them, especially illegals.

And, I've never seen a bureaucracy created yet that worked well...usually it leaks many times the $$ that it actually uses properly.

But that is what Pelosi and comrades want, a bigger government and more people dependent upon it.m And I thought Bush was a free spender.

what a waste.

Biggie,

That statement attributed to Nancy P is so utterly absurd and irrational that I find it hard to believe. It almost sounds like urban legend material.................if she truly feels that way, that is beyond scary.

I always admired Ryan Eashoo, all his family was hard working people at the City of Flint. But not now!! This guy is working hand n hand with Mayor Williamson!

Al Garcia schreef:
Eight pages of nothing! Thats all this discussion is and silly me... I fall into the trap of the "Ryan Eashoo Lovefest".
Eashoo has added nothing, said nothing or commented on nothing other then a "Merry Christmas" message to his fan club on December 24th.
All of a sudden he has been annointed the Czar of BuickCity!
Come on people!!
Ryan has never said on this site that he wants to be Mayor. At least not that I know of. What are his plans? Why cant he come on here and tell people what he plans to do? Is he or does he want to run for mayor?? Counsil?? Is there is the slightest interest?
If he wants to lead the city of Flint, what is his plans for bringing jobs to Flint? Does he have a plan for improving education? How is he going to end the mass exidous of younger Flintoids? What are his plans for those neglected neighborhoods?
What are you going to do for those kids hanging out on Maklin? What are you going to do for that eldery couple over on Franklin that are afraid to come out of their house? What you going to do about those kids over at Elms Park?
Come on Ryan, you have connections with Michael Moore, Im sure he would help you pay for a speechwriter that can produce some doubletalk babble for you. That would be better then what you are giving potential constituants right now, isnt it?
COME ON RYAN.....REMEMBER THE MEAT AND POTATOES!
The citizens of Flint deserve a good meal every once in a while!
Happy New Years Ryan!

Ryan has the mayors money!!

as usual......whats that ol' saying?? If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. A perfect chance to "tell us what he gots!" and not a single drop from young Mr. Eashoo.
Can you atleast acknowledge Ryan, that you were given a chance on here to tell us your point of view on what you would do for the citizens of Flint?
As usual from politicians from Flint, just run and hide and maybe the big angry guy will just go away.....not a chance!!
The people should hold every single person who is interested in fixing this machine accountable and demand to know what their plans are to fix it.
How many people on this site think the people of Flint atleast deserve that? You people have been abused for far to long. Cant you garner enough strength out of those brittle bones to stand up and demand to be treated better?
It's not only Ryan....its all the current and potential politicians.
Ive been talking to a few friends from the 4th ward and they speak favorable of Josh Freeman. The city of Flint needs more young people like him respresenting the people. The 4th ward gave him 'the shaft' last election day because they were afraid of the big 'fatcat' Don Williamson and elected that stuffed "aint sharing a room with a negro" puppet Sandy Hill.
The people of Flint should look for respresentation from more people like Josh Freeman, not a Michael Moore clone, run and hide guy like Ryan Eashoo.

Josh Freeman is puke on carpet, he did not serve his ward very well either.

Interesting. Didn't remember that...

Great questions to ask?

If in his 2006 State of the City Address he announced "major crime was reduced" why then was crime actually up 30 percent according the city's website? Or Why then did the police need restructuring if his good leadership and teamwork was resulting in "Major reductions in Crime" as he said?

When does he plan on fulfilling any of his campaign promises!

Oh and ask him about his first wife? Joan

Why does Marvin Riley owe him 180,000 dollars for building permits?

Why did the city pay 140,000 dollars to settle the lawsuit with the paperboy?

Why didn't we settle the sewer claims for less than half what they have been awarded?

Who is actually responsible for the police department? We don't have a chief? Who is in charge?

Why did he need 12 officers to go with him to the housing commission meeting?

Why did he pull three police cars off 911 calls to harass Eric Mays at Brennen Center for collecting signatures for the petition to have him recalled?

When is he going to open the City jail? Or is he going for the Woody Play and wait until just before the next election to finally decide to open it again so that crime will go down?

Why do some many of his and his wife's campaign workers have jobs at the City?

What happened to the guy that used to escort him when used have business meetings? The big guy with no neck?

Who is that guy that carries his chair for him at the Casino?

When did Mt. Morris become Flint?

Why did he throw out the plans for a casino in Flint and opt for his property in Mt. Morris?

If his campaign leased vehicles from Patsy's Dealership, why did they have dealer plates on them?

If he didn't use campaign workers to clean up the park for his wife’s campaign party, why did only people working on his election get the overtime to fix it up? Then follow up with, why did the city pay out a grievance to those who didn't work the overtime?

Why doesn't he respond to letters sent to his office?

When are the Community Policing officers going to actually be used for community policing?

Why did crime all of a sudden start going up as son as he took over as Chief, (I mean Mayor) when crime was following a ten year trend of declining an average of 10 percent every year for the last 10 years. When there was a notable drop in 2003 of15 percent when the Police actually had the fewest officers ever?

Why is TV 12 reporting a crack down on Crime for harassing churches putting on dances to get teenagers off the streets?

Why were all the tickets handed out at the birthday party at Club 810 thrown out of court? The ones you pulled officers off the streets and patrols to write all those tickets? When officers reported there weren’t any laws being broken!

Why when the civil Service commission determined that an employee that was improperly fired by him, and awarded 50,000.00 is he still fighting it? Civil Service Commission is about as impartial as it gets.
