My father is friends with them, and received an invite to the party.
He is not going, but rather boycotting it. He said its like Steve to do this
for the purpose of his pocket book

The best time to picket would be the Annual Holiday Walk on December 5th from 5:30 to 8:30. We need someone that can make some signs.

What can be printed as sign slogans? get the message out on a small space.

I have some yard signs that can be redone. Could place on route along center. They will be thrown away but we can put more up when they are not looking. Save all your old political yard signs and turn them inside out and paint them.

The best way would be the old sandwich signs that you wear on your body!

The slogans I am thinking are not children friendly.

side 1. Save Historical cottages
Side 2. Boycott Cultural Center

side 1- Manning St. is Culture
side 2- No historical parking!

The people need a vote! this needs to be brought to a flint ballot!
A friend said it would cost to much to bring these houses up to code that the cultural center is not in the business of remodeling or renting.
Your thoughts?

Someone please think of something better! fast!

Well that maybe the case, but if the Cultural Center is making 22,000 - 32,000 a year on these things, they could at least keep them up.

The Flint Cultural Center is a SLUM LORD

To anyone interested in protesting the Manning Court demolitions
at Historic District Commissioner Steve Heddy's fundraiser to raise
money for the Flint Institute of Music (that Heddy SHOULD have
abstained from voting on), the party will be held at Heddy's home,
1212 Woodlawn Park Drive in Flint. It will be from 11 am to 3 p.m.
on Sunday, december 3.

obviously you are including yourself in the ball-less crowd as well right John?

otherwise you wouldn't have had to ask.

Discussion was had about feasability of moving houses. NO.

These houses are history and culture and even if it were cost and structurally ok. IT IS NOT OK!

This plan has been in the works for years....appointments made to the Historic Commission. The Large remodeling of FIM. Can you say LARGE ATRIUM. The movement of the property oversight from the Board of ED.

The current parking lot is not to far to walk- may need a security gatehouse along path for parents too LAZY to walk children to the door!

I propose a boycott of all buildings/programs in the Cultural Center. Will not attend Holiday Walk, Whiting, Planitarium, Sloan ETC.

I propose someone with tech ability PLEASE start an online petition.

I would willing carry a written petition for signatures if someone can write the language.

ONLY in FLINT would a Historical Commission vote to tear down history for a Parking Lot! can you say Elite Corruption!!

RAP

RAP I agree with you 110%, unfortunately we need the people of this great city to get behind your ideas! Without a large number of people, the cultural center doesn't care! I guess The Flint Cultural Center has lost focus of what it was formed for and should be re named Flint Center. Obviously they don't have a clue about the Cultural part...
