FLINT, MI -- A male victim refused an ambulance after he was dragged Saturday, May 11, out of an Agree Avenue home and kicked in the head and ribs by two men, according to a police report.
The victim called police around 3:45 a.m., telling an officer at the scene he was inside the residence when a man known to him dragged the victim out of the home.

He was then kicked in the head and ribs by the acquaintance and a second male suspect. The victim managed to get up a few minutes later and call 911. An officer noticed cuts on the victim's nose whom was in visible pain, bent over as he talked with police.

No word was given in the report on any arrests in connection with the case or why the suspect would have dragged the victim out of the home.

Roberto can be reached by phone at 810-429-3865, email at racosta1@mlive.com, on Facebook at Roberto Acosta Journalist or on Twitter @racostaJourno.

Jury convicts Detroit man of delivering heroin in Flint

FLINT, MI -- A Detroit man faces up to 40 years in prison after a jury convicted him of delivering heroin in Flint.
Jurors returned a guilty verdict Monday, May 13, against Marcel Anthony Mitchell, 27, on one count of delivery of less than 50 grams of heroin.

Mitchell was arrested June 1, 2011, by members of the Flint Area Narcotics Group who were working on a tip.

Investigators said they observed Mitchell and two other men acting suspiciously in a vehicle on Hughes Street in Flint.

Officers passed the vehicle and returned, observing the front seat passenger stuffing a plastic baggie in his mouth and the back seat passenger stuffing something onto the floor.

The three men exited their vehicle and officers found a baggie containing 56 bundles of heroin on the floor where Mitchell was sitting.

“Drug dealers are a scourge on our community,” Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said in a statement following the verdict. “I am pleased that we were able to obtain this conviction and put Marcel Mitchell in jeopardy of being sent away to prison for a substantial amount of time."

The charge typically carries a potential maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, but because Mitchell is a four-time convicted offender he could face up to 40 years in prison when he is sentenced July 8 by Genesee Circuit Judge Geoffrey Neithercut.

State records show that Mitchell was previously sentenced to 2-15 years in prison in 2004 for armed robbery in Wayne County. He was released in 2008.

He was convicted in 2010 of second-degree home invasion and in 2012 of breaking and entering with intent.

The case was tried by Special Assistant Attorney General Barney Whitesman, who was assigned to Leyton's staff as part of the state's effort to curb violence in high-crime cities.

The Flames may be challenging the Cobras this summer with a previously unheard of alliance.

The house was burnt badly and painted with Krab killa graffiti. Krab is a derogatory term for a Crip. Normally the derogatory words would have been crossed out. Rumors on the street claim a very rare Crip-Blood alliance is forming to take out the Cobras. While this has happened at least once that I know of, this kind of alliance is rare, very rare.

An alliance of this sort would occur or a limited time and for a specific purpose.

Queens Gang Takedown Unveils Bloods, Crips Alliance

A nearly two-year long police investigation, "Operation Under Siege," revealed over 100 suspects, dozens of guns, and piles of drugs, all in connection to a plot to assassinate cops. The team behind this plot? A strange alliance of the Bloods and the Crips, traditionally rival gangs . They allegedly set aside their differences to plan the assassinations of patrol cops in projects in the Rockaways. Police Commish Ray Kelly said one gang associate "intended to position himself on rooftops and shoot police officers who were compromising his business in Far Rockaway and South Jamaica."

Four sects of the the Crips and a few individual Bloods allegedly started a new gang known as "Flocc," which rose to prominence in Far Rockaway by cornering the narcotics trade. "The Bloods in South Jamaica aren't loyal to the Bloods in Far Rockaway, who were feuding with the Crips," one source told the Daily News. "That's what made this so unusual." Nearly 300 court-authorized wiretaps unveiled a drug ring at project houses in Far Rockaway, where Flocc members allegedly made $15,000 a week and used the money to buy guns for their plan to kill patrol officers around the projects.

Blood associate Keith Livingston was arrested in September after police heard him say things like "I'm going to shoot the beat walkers" on a wiretapped phone. He pleaded not guilty to charges of criminal possession of a weapon and conspiracy, and is being held on $250,000 bail. The investigation also led to the arrest of a former corrections officer, Farrad Smith, who was storing weapons for gang members.

Police officials estimate the gang was involved in two drug-related murders and 11 shootings during the two-year investigation. Police were able to gather information on a lot of the suspects through YouTube. Many gang members allegedly posted videos of themselves rapping about their exploits, with lyrics like "A guy was a nobody, but now sells big / And he will spray the Man to protect his land."

Queens District Attorney Richard Brown told NY1, "Queens County is a much safer place to live today as a result of [police] work and the work of their colleagues." Police have arrested 104 and are still on the lookout for 8 others. Police also seized 60 guns, including AK-47s and Uzis.

Why are you sabotaging your own 2013 local crime thread with old gang info from other states? You already have a national gang history thread, why don't you keep it there? If you feel a present local crime is tied to history of other states why don't you just post a link on the local crime post in this thread to the national one.

Because multiple sources are stating a local very rare Blood and Crip alliance formed to take on the east side Cobras. A recent meeting had local police authorities addressing a threat against police officers. Graffiti associated with Fifth Ward Blood gang, Merrill Hood and other blood graffiti is showing up on the east side.

The only documented story I could locate on this type of alliance was an attempt to murder police. That is why I posted it. Is the motive of the new group to war with the Cobras or does it have a dual purpose?

Lots of shots fired yesterday. People were commenting on the oddity of a white astro van or mini van being involved in two shooting incidents. Somehow they felt a minivan did not fit the gangster profile.

The vehicle was first seen around noon when it shot at some consumers energy workers in the vicinity of Home and Barbara and followed them as they fled. Around 4 pm a similar vehicle shot at an occupied house in the 1900 block of Dayton by Brownell. Lots of violence has occurred on this corner and many shoes are over the utility lines.

Later shots fired around 5:30 pm in the vicinity of M L king and Eldridge as well as Santa Barbara and Warrington.

The Marathon station in the 7000 block of Saginaw at Avenue A continues to be a problem. Before 10 am this morning there was a strong armed robbery by 2 men in a truck carrying a stove. This is across Saginaw Street from the Flint Oak Business cnter and a development area. It is the scene of problems weekly. It might help if they get rid of the graffiti on their business and the surrounding stores.

The threads posted are local gangs although they may or may not have national ties.

**They are said to be using the name Flame gang which is a rap group that started in New Orleans in 2004.

The house shot up last night is close to me. I drove by today and the shooters did a number on that house. There are huge holes in the large front window.

Thank goodness the initial reports of an elderly woman down were somewhat misleading. She was not wounded but has knee problems.

The house is in front of the area the kids play football on and the baseball diamonds are also in line with the house. We quit walking our dogs there because of the gunshots.

Neighborhood is hopping. There were multiple police cars near Copeman, east of Ballenger just before 4 pm. Fight at Clio and Dayton and gunshots at Copeman and Seneca. I hope this doesn't mean a long hot and dangerous summer.

I may be trying to type in the dark or a small light if this continues.

Gerrell Tyler's birthday was Monday and his father was mourning his death again. Sad to see.

With the unreliability of witnesses because of intimidation, I wonder why the Michigan State Police and the prosecution went forward with this case. Surely they needed more than a thumb print. Did they even determine a motive?

Charges dismissed against Flint man accused of fatally shooting man whose funeral erupted in gunfire

FLINT, MI -- Charges have been dismissed against a Flint man accused of fatally shooting Gerrell Tyler, whose funeral erupted in gunfire.

Terence Deangelo Brock, 24, was charged with first-degree premeditated murder, felon in possession of a firearm and felony firearms in Tyler's death.

Tyler, 26, was found dead in the driver's seat of his Mercedes-Benz car at Milbourne and Myrtle avenues around 5:30 p.m. Dec. 30, 2012. Authorities say he was shot multiple times in the back of the head.

Michigan State Police Trooper Bradley Ross testified during a March preliminary exam that he interviewed witnesses after he was called to the scene of Tyler's slaying and was told that Brock and Steven Lawson were possible suspects in the killing.

Ross said authorities discovered spent .45-caliber casings and a live 9-millimeter shell at the scene. The trooper said the spent casings were found on Myrtle Avenue just east of Millbourne.

Tyler's vehicle came to a rest after it collided with a chain-link fence on the north side of Myrtle.

Ross said it appeared that the vehicle was traveling at a very slow speed, possibly idling, when it collided with the fence.

The trooper testified that Brock told him he knew who Tyler was but said he had not seen him since Brock went to prison in 2010 for a probation violation following a conviction of carrying a concealed weapon. He was paroled April 10, 2012, according to state records.

But Ross testified authorities found Brock's left thumb print on the exterior of the passenger-side rear window of Tyler's car.

Ross said Brock told him he had no explanation for the print.

However, Ross' information was not enough to bind the case over to Genesee Circuit Court for trial and Flint District Court Judge M. Cathy Dowd dismissed it in late April.

"The case was dismissed by Judge Dowd after the preliminary exam because she ruled the prosecution failed to establish probable cause," said Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton. "A key eyewitness refused to appear and testify, significantly weakening our case.

"We presented evidence that the defendant's print was on the victim's car, that the defendant said he hadn't seen the victim and that he hadn't been near the car for more than 10 months, but Judge Dowd said it wasn't enough."

Leyton said his office has not decided on whether it would re-file charges against Brock.

Brock's attorney, Patricia Lazzio, could not be reached for comment.

Lawson, 28, was shot to death two weeks after Tyler's death just outside the sanctuary of Full Gospel Christian Church on Martin Luther King Avenue near Home Avenue Jan. 12 while attending Tyler's funeral.

There have been no charges filed in Lawson's death.
