A 29-year-old Flint man was arrested Thursday, March 28, by Flint police officers on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm after a search warrant was executed at a Hammerburg Road apartment, according to an affidavit filed by a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives task force officer in Flint Federal District Court.

The suspect is a person of interest in the Jan. 12 shooting death of Steven Edward Lawson, according to the affidavit. There have been no charges filed in connection to Lawson's killing, according to the Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton's office.

Lawson, 28, was shot to death just outside the sanctuary of Full Gospel Christian Church on Martin Luther King Avenue near Home Avenue Jan. 12 while attending a funeral for Gerrell Tyler.

Tyler, 26, was found dead in the driver's seat of his Mercedes-Benz at Milbourne and Myrtle avenues around 5:30 p.m. Dec. 30. State Police Detective Bradley Ross testified during a March preliminary exam that Tyler was shot multiple times in the back of the head.

Terence Deangelo Brock, 24, is charged with first-degree premeditated murder, felon in possession of a firearm and felony firearms in Tyler's death.

Authorities secured a search warrant for the Hammerburg Road apartment on Wednesday, March 27, during their investigation into Lawson’s death, according to the affidavit.
A 39-year-old Flint man and the person of interest were both taken into custody after authorities discovered handguns in the couch cushions where the men were sitting when the search warrant was executed on the apartment.

Both men have been indicted on federal charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
The preliminary exam for Brock is scheduled to continue April 29.

Television stolen during home invasion at Flint apartment; three victims escape uninjured
Roberto Acosta | racosta1@mlive.com By Roberto Acosta | racosta1@mlive.com The Flint Journal
on April 07, 2013 at 12:00 PM, updated April 07, 2013 at 12:01 PM

FLINT, MI – A 46-inch television was taken by two male suspects during a Thursday, April 4 home invasion at a Stedron Street apartment, according to a police report.

Police were called shortly after 6 p.m. to the home in the 2000 block of Stedron and spoke with a victim who said he was at home with two friends when someone knocked on the door.

One of the friends opened the door and a suspect forced his way into the apartment, armed with a handgun, followed by a second male suspect also carrying a handgun.

The suspect who entered the home first then pointed the handgun at the three victims and demanded the television, valued at nearly $1,000. Both suspects then picked up the television and fled the apartment.

None of the victims were injured during the incident, and the suspects were gone before police arrived at the scene. No arrests have been made in connection to the home invasion.

Two bodies found in Flint driveway, local pastor taking action

Posted: Apr 07, 2013 8:34 PM PDT Updated: Apr 07, 2013 8:34 PM PDT

By Jennifer Profitt - ABC 12

FLINT (WJRT) -
(04/07/13) - Two people were found shot to death in Flint. Their bodies were found in the driveway in the 300 block of East Genesee Street near Alexander street just after 7 p.m. Saturday.

Police say they'd been shot to death.

We were in that neighborhood earlier today knocking on doors, and some neighbors were too afraid to talk.

But a pastor who preaches just a few blocks from where the bodies were found did speak out, and he plans on taking action.

Pastor Robert E. Smith Senior preaches the word of God in a neighborhood riddled with crime and desolation.

"It's very sad, we want to do something about it as best as we can it makes us feel very sad, we just hate to lose young people like that, it's just a waste of life," Smith said.

Police released the name of one of the victims: Randy Stephan Srda, 22. The other is a female, but we're still working to learn more about her and what happened.

Pastor Smith isn't sitting idly by. He has a plan of action against this violence.

"We're getting out in the streets, knocking on doors, talking to the young people and praying for them and just we have hope that things are going to get better," Smith said.

He encourages everybody to do the same. He says young people in our community need to know they're loved and that there's hope.

We spoke with Flint Police, they say no one has been arrested. If you know anything, call Flint Police at 810-237-6800 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-422-JAIL.

There was a link on FPO detailing a father's search to discover if the slain female was his daughter. He lived on the south side. After a frustrating time of calling 911 and being able to reach no one to find out any information, family members confirmed their loss. They stated the girl's name was Ebonie Baldwin.

It would have been nice if ABC 12 had given the name of the church. Also Shiloh Baptist is close.

Second victim in weekend double homicide in Flint identified as 36-year-old Flint woman
Print David Harris | dharris5@mlive.com By David Harris | dharris5@mlive.com The Flint Journal
on April 08, 2013 at 4:20 PM, updated April 08, 2013 at 5:02 PM

FLINT, MI – The woman who was found shot in the head along with a man over the weekend has been identified as Ebonie L. Baldwin, 36, of Flint.

Baldwin and Randy S. Srda, 22, were shot to death outside a vacant home on East Genesee Street near Alexander Street and found hours later, police said.

The two were found just after 7 p.m. Saturday with gunshot wounds to the head, according to a police report. There have been no arrests and no suspect information has been released, police said.

Family of Srda declined comment and family of Baldwin's could not be reached for comment.

A vigil is planned for 6 p.m. tonight outside Baldwin's home, according to a Facebook posting.

It's the first double homicide this year and the 16th and 17th of 2013, according to Flint Journal records.

Pastor Robert E. Smith of Deliverance Church of God in Christ, which is located just a couple blocks from where the homicides occurred, said there are a number of reasons why the area has so many problems.

"Number one there are not many jobs to be found and I think there's a lot of drugs around," said Smith. "Sometimes there may not be a father in the home (and) in the young man's life."

Smith said he often reaches out to young people on the north end to try and steer them down the right path. He said he will pray with them and ask them about job prospects.

"We're not afraid of them, because they we care about them," he said.

Smith said the homicides have inspired him to hit the streets again this summer and talk to more youth.

"It's really tragic," he said. We're doing what we can to stem the tide of these murders."

Anyone with information on the shootings may contact Flint police at 810-237-6800 or Crimestoppers at 800-422-5245.

Second murder victim identified, person of interest named

Posted: Apr 08, 2013 3:05 PM PDT Updated: Apr 08, 2013 3:27 PM PDT

By Lori Dougovito - bio | email

FLINT (WJRT) -
(04/08/13) - Flint Police have identified the second victim in a deadly, double shooting this weekend, and also named a person of interest.

Police now say it was 36-year-old Ebonie Baldwin found alongside 22-year-old Randy Srda.

That person of interest is 34-year-old Deonte McCoy. He spent time in prison on drug charges and was most recently paroled in June of 2011, according to online Michigan Department of Corrections records.

Police declined to comment on the relationship between McCoy and the victims, but did say they all did know each other. Please call D/Sgt. Brett Small at 810-237-6917 if you have information about McCoy or the murders.

Baldwin and Srda's bodies were found in a driveway, near vacant homes, in the 300 block of East Genesee Saturday night. That's on Flint's north side.

Police say someone called 911 about 7 p.m., but their bodies may have been there for hours. Both had been shot.
