I personally am not a fan of Casino's. Many people are addcits when it casinos/gambling. On the same token, I also believe that every person should have self tolerance. What do the people of Flint and the surrounding areas feel about the idea of opening a Casino in Flint? Being that our city is in a great depression, would it be such bad idea? Wouldn't it generate jobs? Would is destroy homes?

Flint citizens voted for it. I heard there was a plan in place to put it on the Buick city property but the mayor wanted on his property. I think the state voters voted against allowing new casinos though.

I think we're now blocked by the state from building a casino.

Hey,,,think a bit here,,,,Casino,,,gambling addictions ,,,,and maybe the crack heads and all the meth addicted, heroin users that fill the city streets will trade in thier drug addictions for a few chips on the tables,,,,it will give them at least a warm place to lay thier drunken , drug infested bodies

sad to say they're already been here for years! Maybe the tax revenue could build a world-class police dept? We should turn the downtown area into the new Vegas Strip!

Prostitues? Check... see Dort Hwy
Loan Sharks? Check... see Dort Hwy (and every other strip plaza they can plug a "money store" into)
Porno Sites? Check... see Dort Hwy

Flint hit the trifecta!! Why don't we build a casino on Dort Hwy? The old Small Mall is a great location and best of all, its on DORT HWY so the above mentioned industries won't have to relocate!!!

Casino's bring in the bad with them, but we already have the bad, I'm willing to give one a chance to see how much actual good a casino could do for Flint.

It seems like Flint's Strip clubs are the only businesses that aren't shutting down. I tried to get my car fixed on Monday and many of the neighborhood repair shops have closed. One within the past couple months.

I think we are banned from having a private casino open in Flint which would mean we'd have to ceede land to native Americans. Flint was a Native American Settlement to begin with though. If a casino was on native American land I'm not sure if we would get any property tax revenue. I personally don't have a problem with a casino on Williamson's land if we annexed Mount Morris township. I'm not a supporter of gambling but it is legal in our state. I think most every bar in Flint has a Keno game going so gambling is already going on in Flint.

Casinos will only serve as a tax for the poor.

They're only good for two things; adding revenue and increasing crime. Think about it, None of the better cities in the country have casinos. The only reason why Vegas has casinos is because the city is more of an adult amusement park than a city.
