The voters of Flint approved a Casino and I never heard anymore about it since we passed the ballot proposal. Whats the status of this? why hasn't it happened? Do you all think its a good idea?

If a Casino could be built in Flint we could negotiate certain things. Location, profit sharing, a City - Police deal, etc. It would bring jobs, a first class hotel etc.

There is a casino in Flint, remember our former mayor Williamson was gonna work on a deal to bring one to his land out in Mt. Morris township and then annex the land. Oh wait that never happened...

What "profit sharing" Ryan? The tribes get the money. Casinos are going to cause more problems with Flint's welfare crowd. They will piss away their money and then be on the phone to their case workers wanting a refill because having a casino in their backyard will "enables them" to lose the money the money they do get. Jobs may come but typically a casino takes money out of the local economy. I don't see anything positive about a casino here . I know , Vegas has a great thing going, want to know why? It isn't in Flint. Ask yourself, who the hell wants to come here from out of town when Vegas has much better weather most of the year? If this is becoming a college town would you want to send your kid to a town for getting their degree if the town also had a casino in it? I know , Vegas has a college, but , again it is in Vegas. Want to know why a casino won't work here? It's Michigan, we have a government in this state that would screw up anything it touches. And same for it being in Flint.
But the bright spot for having a casino here would be the Poplars would have someone else to try to squeeze money out, people with deeper pockets. I just don't think that the tribal leaders running a casino would put up with that sort of crap .

Whats new?? its a gamble everytime you pass thru Flint. Laughing By the way you can drive 70mi north to the crime free city of Standish and hand your money over to the indians in a safe enviroment.

Yeah, those Casino's have done real wonders for the City of Detroit, huh?
Their streets are now lined with businesses and the people are ripping down the doors to move there. I don't believe I have seen one abandoned house down there that isn't being renovated.

Be careful what you wish for the casino's have done one thing in Detroit and that is make people even poorer as they gamble away what little money they do have inhopes of a big payout that never comes.

Detroit gamblers have taken to robbery. And yes, important people don't want a casino here.

Art Blackwell, now under indictment in Flint, was working with the tribe, Mays and Taylor to bring a casino here. I wonder if Mays and taylor paid taxes on the alleged $40,000 they got from the tribe. Seems they cheated a third partner and took their cut. At least that is what the thir partner alleges.
