Let me count the ways.....

1. Afraid I'll turn into a politician
2. Too thin-skinned
3. Not physically capable of lying, cheating or stealing
4. Too thin-skinned
5. I'm a conservative in a county that's 70+% Democrat.
6. Too thin-skinned
7. I have to work for a living
8. Too thin-skinned
9. I can't stand rejection
10. Too thin-skinned

Need I go on?

You don't think that you are too thin-skinned, do you, perchance? Smile I think that it's hard to run sometimes.

You get caught up in who said what, who did what, who might do what, etc.

Even if you went in your shell and refused any contact with the media that would still give us a name on the ballot.

Don't you read the newspaper?! Do you remember all the stuff they said about the last guy or two that ran as Republicans?

You can refuse media interviews or just say "I want lower taxes" and nothing else. This is a good year to run as a Republican because if it wasn't for the house democrats the tax increase would never have passed. Not all the dems like higher taxes.

As long as you don't vote for a piece of legislation and then after it's put into law Claim that there were unintended consequences that were obvious in the law, but you refused to see.

A vote tally. It's pretty much pointless for Republicans to run real campaigns in most of Genesee County but it helps having Republicans on the ballot. Preferrably intelligent ones who will do the Journal interview so we can build for the future.

For the timid candidates who are scared to talk to the media it is still a benefit having you on the ballot.

Sorry...I don't get it. What is the point of being on the ballot if you know you're going to lose?

Genesee county, ruled by Democrats for the last 40 years but every thing is always the Republicans fault. FC why would you ever want to get invoved in that fiasco?

To support our city, county, state, nation. Although you may underestimate the importance of your race you could have a small impact on the race to the South of you which is VERY critical. If we lose that house race we may loose it for good and lose the state of Michigan for good. That race could be extremely close and having a candidate in your district that can do a decent media interview may help put them over the top.

There's also the future. You might help us pick up a ward or two in Flint next time around.

Then there's the underdog thing. Some people do like underdogs. Not every underdog looses. Giuliani did win 80% democratic NYC.

"It could be good or bad. If it all works, they are going to say I'm smart," Jones said. "If it don't, they are going to say that dumb cowboy finally did goof it up. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. If you're not in 'em, you can't win 'em." http://www.theledger.com/article/20080501/news/805010554
