As far as I know there are no homicides in Flint so far in 2008. I think thats a really good thing and wonder if this is a record??? Anyone know??Gosh we may go a whole year with no muders!

| Sadly an untrue statement Ryan. There was that guy, Enrique Torres, who murdered his wife, Rebecca Torres and was caught several blocks away from the scene. They had like 2 or 3 children who were at the grandparents house. |

| I am pretty sure the cold and snow has a lot to do with the crime rate. Let's see how we do in the warm months that will eventually show up. |

| I would say it does also, however a couple years ago we had something like ten homicides by this time, and also, in the warm months, July of 07' for example we had no homicides. |

Flint, Michigan records first homicide of the year

FLINT, MICHIGAN -- Flint has its first homicide of the year.
A 37-year-old man was fatally shot in the stomach after arguing with his 72-year-old housemate, police said this morning. The victim managed to stagger out of the house at 2518 Bagley and was found on a sidewalk next door.
The shooting occured after the pair got into an argument and the victim apparently began hitting the older man with a stick, police said. The suspect than got out a gun and fired a shot, authorities said.
The older man was take to Hurley Medical Center for head contusions. Police have not released the identity of either man.
Police received a call about the incident at about 7 a.m.
Flint had gone through the first 2 1/2 months of the year without a homicide, the longest such streak in years. |
