darwin (can't remember his last name) something. he was into the
funeral home business and eventually sold out. he told me some great
stories about his escapades in flint a while ago. i also know mr.spencer.
he once told me the story of the bullet still inside his chest from WW2.

their lives....great stuff!! Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

I worked with Wayne who was a licenced funeral director but left Reigle's to drive a tow truck, ???? Darwin is Darwin Groves from the Groves Funeral Home which used to be open in downtown Flint on Third Ave. I started working in the funeral business at the closed Zelley Funeral Home and Darwin was there too. He never got his license but always was around the business. He owned/operated Superior Ambulance with Brady Smith who now owns Plumb-Smith Funeral Home.
Many stories can be told about the funeral homes in Flint. I remember "Spence House of Mortuary" having a close friend buried through them.
I will agree that it is wrong to go in and take anything without permission and unless I have permission to do so, would never go into the old funeral home and just take that table. Not going to happen.

Wayne was a licenced funeral director, don't recall him having a towing gig? But it was such a long time ago, and it was the '70s Cool He lives in Texas now and works in healthcare admin. He doesn't get back to Michigan very much.

BTW I do remember that table!!! Embarassed Laughing

If you remember that table then you must have been associated with Reigle's in some fashion. Who are you?

Wink moi? Wouldn't out myself here. If it's important, let me know how I can contact you.

About the table, well - I'm associated with the former work associate during the Reigle days. Have met some of the Reigles through him, back in the early-mid 70's.

Table has to weigh a ton? Can't blame you for wishing you had it. I'm a resourceful person with a big network, is there a "finders" fee? Of course, everything would have to be legal. It would be a shame to see the table scrapped, it has historical value and would be nice to see it appreciated. Is there such a thing as a mortuary science museum? Most folks don't understand the interesting science behind it. We all die someday, at least I know whats going to happen to me - and it's not that bad!!!!!!!

Sorry for the blather.

My email is:

HINSB@msn.com

Enough said about that. There is supposed to be some relative of the Reigle family just down the road here in a nursing home, at least that is what I've heard.

Sure can since I used to almost live in that room. You've got the embalming table and what is so neat about that table is on the foot end it has a lip to catch the fluids while you embalm. At the end of the table are the hot & cold water outlets. You will also see a toilet looking device at the end of the table where the fluids flow. Ahead of that is an instrument table to hold your embalming tools. To the left of that is a dressing table. You would transfer the body to that table and wheel into the dressing room to dress and cosmetize. Even further left of the dressing table where the door is open, it leads into a mechanical room and a incinerator where biohazard items could be burned. To the right of the table is where another table was and the the fluid cabinets. That was an awesome place.
