Wendy’s Closing Stores Across Michigan, but Flint-Area Locations Are Safe
Wendy’s is closing older, underperforming locations across Michigan as part of a nationwide plan to shut down 300 to 350 restaurants in early 2026, but none of the closures announced so far start in the Flint area and local locations remain open.
Recent closures include at least two locations in Kalamazoo County and more than a dozen others statewide, with additional Michigan sites still under review. The Flint, Burton, and Flint Township area has not been included in the announced shutdowns.
Wendy’s says the move targets aging restaurants while the company focuses on newer, modernized locations with updated designs and stronger drive-thru operations.
